FM Qureshi, Hassan Rouhani Discuss Iran-Pakistan Deepening Relations

FM Qureshi meets Hassan Rouhani

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Wednesday (today) held a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during his three-day official visit to Iran.

The Foreign Minister conveyed the best wishes of President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan along with sharing Pakistan’s vision and commitment to deepen relations with Iran in trade, investment, connectivity and border management for mutual economic development.

Qureshi also met the Speaker of the Iran Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Both of them discussed expanding cooperation through regular parliamentary exchange between Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Moreover, FM Qureshi also makes the ulemas from Pakistan and Iran agreed to work jointly on Islamophobia.

Shah Mahmood will look forward to the visit of Bagher Ghalibaf’s to Pakistan’s parliament. 

Earlier, the Foreign Minister had announced good news for Pakistan following the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries, via his Twitter.

He wrote, “Always a pleasure to be in Iran and I am pleased to share some good news for our citrus farmers. Following discussions, happy to announce that Iran has lifted restrictions on the import of Pakistan’s kinnow.”

Furthermore, bilateral cooperation, promotion of economic linkages and other matters of mutual interest, including regional situation will be discussed during the meetings.

The two foreign ministers will hold delegation-level talks on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with a focus on further deepening cooperation in diverse fields.

The two sides will discuss the regional security situation including the latest developments in the Afghan Peace Process and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Before his visit, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both Pakistan and Iran have supported each other in difficult times and it will be our endeavour to further strengthen the relationship.

Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Tuesday arrived in Tehran on a three-day official visit for talks with the Iranian leadership on bilateral relations.

Upon his arrival, FM Qureshi was received at Imam Khomeini International Airport, Tehran. He will hold meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif and other senior Iranian leadership.

However, the Foreign Minister has announced good news for Pakistan following the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries, via his Twitter.

FM Qureshi To Leave For A 3-Day official visit to Iran Tomorrow

Peace In Afghanistan Is Indispensable For Region: FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will leave for a three-day official visit to Iran on Tuesday (tomorrow).

According to sources, Shah Mahmood Qureshi will arrive in Tehran after ending his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The foreign minister will meet his Iranian counterpart where they will discuss bilateral ties, the Afghanistan reconciliation process and other matters, added sources.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Minister of State HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh of UAE during his official visit to the country.

Both the leaders discussed promoting bilateral relations, mutual cooperation between Pakistan and UAE in various sectors. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), FM Qureshi and HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh agreed that immense trade and investment opportunities existed between Pakistan and UAE.

The two also agreed to frequently exchange trade delegations.

The Foreign Minister FM also stressed utilizing avenues of Economic Diplomacy.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had reached the United Arab Emirates on a three-day visit.

During his visit, Qureshi held meetings with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior UAE leaders.

The Foreign Minister also talked with local and international media representatives of the UAE and explain Pakistan’s views on various regional and global issues.
