Moeen Ali’s Teammates Lash Out At exiled Bangladeshi Author For Insensitive Remarks

Moeen Ali Taslima controversy

English all-rounder Moeen Ali has received immense support from fellow cricketers and fans after a Bangladeshi-Swedish author Taslima Nasreen used tactless remarks against him in her tweet.

Taslima Nasreen had said in her tweet, “If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS.”

However, the tweet was deleted after some hours following extreme widespread flak by other English cricketers and netizens.

Later, reacting to the criticism, the author clarified her remarks in another tweet.

“Haters know very well that my Moeen Ali tweet was sarcastic. But they made that an issue to humiliate me because I try to secularize Muslim society & I oppose Islamic fanaticism. One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists,” she wrote.

To which she has garnered more backlash as the teammates are not okay with her “sarcastic remarks”.

Jofra Archer lambasted her to delete the tweet as it was in no way funny or sarcastic.

“Sarcastic ? No one is laughing , not even yourself , the least you can do is delete the tweet,” he said.

Also, Saqib Mahmood claimed that she has a sick sense of humour.

The comment was made on Moeen Ali’s request to his IPL team Chennai Super Kings’ management to remove the team’s sponsor’s logo from his jersey. The logo was for a liquor company and Ali said it damages his religious viewpoints.

However, his request was accepted.

It is pertinent to mention here that Taslima Nasreen has provoked controversies in the past as well. She fled Bangladesh in 1994 after receiving death threats over her critique of Islam.

Saudi Arabia: Only Nationals Can Work In Country’s Malls Under New Labour Rules

Saudi Arabia New Labour Rules

Under the new Saudi labour rule, only the kingdom’s nationals will be hired to work in the country’s shopping malls.

Human Resources and Social Development Minister Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi issued three new labour rules to modify the country’s restaurant sector.

In his statement, the minister said, “The changes would mean jobs for 51,000 Saudi men and women.”

According to the first directive, only Saudi’s would be working in shopping malls and their management offices.

However, a restrained number of roles would be excluded, but the ministry did not specify which ones.

The other rule changes were related to raising the number of Saudis working in the restaurant, cafe and catering trade.

It is the latest government move to boost the number of Saudis in the workforce.

Earlier, the Saudi government had said that the exit and re-entry visa reforms will also allow expatriates to travel outside Saudi Arabia without their employer’s approval after presenting a request.

A senior official at the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development told that more than seven million exile labourers will benefit from the “Improving Contractual Relationship” initiative.

To apply this new law simply aims to develop a more skilled workforce and overcome the conflicts among labourers and other employees.

Al-Harbi further added, “Employees who complete their first year of work will be able to switch jobs after the expiry of their notice period.”

Moreover, the labour substitution process will be managed by the job mobility services platform.

Mrs World Caroline Jurie Arrested Following Mrs Sri Lanka Crown Debacle

Mrs World Caroline Jurie arrested

Former 2019 Mrs World Caroline Jurie, who had forcibly snatched Mrs Sri Lanka Pushpika De Silva’s crown for being divorced, has been arrested here on Thursday.

Mrs World Caroline Jurie has been arrested by the Sri Lankan police following the beauty pageant’s debacle claiming that she is she was not fit for the honour as she was divorced.

“Police arrested Caroline Jurie and model Chula Padmendra over Sunday’s incident on charges of simple hurt and criminal cause,” the Sri Lankan police spokesperson said.

Earlier on Sunday, Pushpika De Silva was presented the ‘Mrs Sri Lanka’ crown by prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

Suddenly, Caroline Jurie had appeared on stage and announced Ms De Silva cannot hold the title because she is divorced.

She said, “I am taking my first steps saying that the crown goes to the first runner up. There is a rule that prevents women who have already been married and are divorced.”

The entire scene was live and showed Ms Jurie hurriedly removed a set of pins ripping off Mrs Sri Lanka’s crown creating an intense brawl on stage.

However, Pushpika De Silva ended up in hospital after head wounds. De Silva later took to Facebook and described the incident as “injustice and insult”.

She also warned to take legal action against the entire scene.

She said: “I’m still an un-divorced woman. A true queen is not a woman who snatches another woman’s crown, but a woman who secretly sets another woman’s crown!”

De Silva further stated that she is separated from her husband and lives with her child and asked the jury to present evidence of the claims.

WHO IS CAROLINE JURIE?

Born in 1992, Caroline Jurie is a model and victor of the Mrs Sri Lanka World 2019 title. She studied at the St. Sebastian Girls’ School in Kandana and also served as a sales executive at the Virgin Mega Store in Dubai.
