4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Quetta, adjoining areas

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake has jolted Quetta and adjoining areas on Tuesday morning. No loss of life or property was reported.

According to the details, the depth of the earthquake was recorded 35 kilometres while the epicentre 90 kilometres in the west of the Balochistan capital.

The earthquake comes a day after tremors were felt in Karachi on Monday morning. The moderate intensity quake of 3.6 magnitude at Richter Scale jolted the port city.

The epicentre of the quake was at 100 kilometres distance in Southeast of Karachi at the depth of 10 kilometres, as per the details.

A moderate intensity earthquake in October jolted Mingora and adjoining areas in Swat district. The intensity of tremors was recorded on 4.7 magnitude at Richter scale. The earthquake tremors were felt across Mingora town and adjoining areas at 6:14 AM.

CAA declares seven lab tests equal to PCR-based test of COVID-19

Ahead of increasing Coronavirus cases in Pakistan, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has on Tuesday modified its standard operating procedures (SOPs) for international passengers which declared seven laboratory tests equivalent to PCR-based test of COVID-19.

The civil aviation authority stated in its notification that seven tests will be considered as equivalent to PCR testing for detection of COVID-19.

Passengers holding negative reports of any of the seven tests will be considered as fulfilling the requirements of RT-PCR testing in accordance with the defined regulations.

The seven tests are listed below:

  1. Real Time RT-PCR for Covid-19
  2. Real Time RT-PCR for SARS-Cov-2
  3. RT-PCR for COVID-19
  4. RT-PCR for SARS-Cov-2
  5. PCR for COVID-19
  6. PCR for SARS-Cov-2
  7. Xpert Xpress SARS-Cov-2 or SARS-Cov-2 GeneXpert

The new version of SOPs was sent to airlines, operators, ground handling agents, authorized flights permission agents and directed to inform passengers who are willing to travel to Pakistan.

Earlier on Monday, CAA had banned the entry of visitors to all airports across the country to curb the spread of second wave of the deadly pandemic.

According to the CAA, drivers will be allowed to drop passengers at the airports’ drop lines and those coming to pick travellers up will be required to wait in their vehicles until flyers’ arrival.

Knowing that I’ve played my last game of cricket ever for my beloved CSK … To think that I’m finishing up my playing days as a 39-year-old, after all of my injury setbacks that I had along the way, I feel so ridiculously fortunate.”

He had played 343 T20 matches scoring 8821 runs and taking 216 wickets in his 16-year-career. He represented Australia in 59 Tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is from 2005-2016.

Watson remained an integral part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), representing Islamabad United in 2016 and 2017. He played for Quetta Gladiators in the past two seasons.

Moreover, over the two calendar years of 2009 and 2010, the all-rounder had the highest Test batting average for Australia and was named Australian Cricketer of the Year in 2010.

Captain (R) Safdar ordered to produce before court in NAB office attack case

A court has on Tuesday ordered to produce Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (R) Safdar in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office attack case during the appearance of Maryam Nawaz.

A district kachehri summoned Captain (R) Safdar Awan in the NAB office attack case.

Judicial magistrate Hafiz Nafees conducted the hearing of the case where the prosecution told him about non-compliance of the orders by accused persons despite being summoned.

Later, the district kachehri issued bailable arrest warrants of the accused and adjourned the hearing till December 5.

Earlier on October 17, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had extended interim bail of PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Captain (R) Safdar until October 20.

The counsels for Sanaullah and Safdar appeared in court as it resumed hearing of NAB office attack case.

They requested the court to put off the hearing for the time being saying they will begin forwarding arguments in the case on October 19.

Sanaullah’s lawyer had stated before the judge that police had arrested as many as 58 persons from outside the NAB Lahore office.

Coronavirus Pakistan: 1,167 infections, more 14 deaths reported during 24 hours

Pakistan has reported 1,167 new infections and 14 more casualties due to Coronavirus pandemic during the last 24 hours.

According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the Coronavirus death toll has reached up to 6,849, whereas, the tally of active cases reached up to 13,965 in Pakistan.

Cases And Recoveries

27,984 tests have been conducted and 1,167 cases were confirmed. 430 patients recovered from COVID-19. Overall cases have reached up to 336,260 and the total recoveries recorded up to 315,446.

Province-Wise Details

Sindh had reported 146,331 cases, Punjab 104,554 cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39,649, Balochistan 15,954, Islamabad 20,089, Gilgit Baltistan 4,279 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir 4,237.

Yesterday, the country had witnessed 1,123 cases of the coronavirus and 12 more people died due to the highly contagious disease.

PM Calls Important Meeting to take notice over increasing cases

Prime Minister Imran Khan has called an important meeting given the increasing coronavirus cases in the country.

As per the details, PM Imran convened a meeting of the National Coordinating Committee for Cove 19 on Tuesday (today).

The meeting will review the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. NCOC officials will brief the Premier on the latest coronavirus-related situation.

Earlier on November 01, Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the second match of the series to take a decisive lead of 0-2 in the three-match series.

In the second ODI played at the Rawalpindi Stadium, the captain of the Zimbabwean team won the toss and elected to bat first.

After which the next batsmen could not increase the score significantly and Zimbabwe’s second wicket fell on the total score of 27.

Zimbabwe’s third wicket fell at 59 and Brian Chari returned to the pavilion with 25 runs, and for 25 overs the Zimbabwean team scored a total of 120 runs but another wicket.

The visiting team’s batsmen could not give any significant support to the team and after losing 3 wickets in a row, 7 players of Zimbabwe returned to the pavilion for 150 runs in 34 overs.

On October 30, Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi had grabbed five wickets and Wahab Riaz taken four as Pakistan thwarted a fighting Zimbabwe to win the first ODI by 26 runs in Rawalpindi.

Bagging the win from the first ODI match against Zimbabwe, Pakistan also claimed 10 points in the World Cup One-Day Super League, which determines the qualifiers for the next World Cup in 2023.
