Islamabad High Court issues non-bailable arrest warrant of Nawaz Sharif

The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday rejected a plea for exemption from personal appearance in the Al-Azizia case and issued a nonbailable arrest warrant for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The IHC ordered the authorities to arrest the PML-N leader and produce him before the court

According to the details, The Islamabad High Court heard Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against the sentence in the Azizia reference.

IHC bench comprising Justice Amir Farooqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani maintained that Nawaz Sharif’s bail has expired in the said case.

On September 9, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif filed a petition in IHC requesting the court to forgo its order of surrender on September 10 in Al-Azizia reference.

The plea was filed by Nawaz’s lawyer Khawaja Harris wherein it prayed upon the court that in the absence of Nawaz Sharif, his representative counsel should be allowed to appear on his behalf. Nawaz Sharif made the request on medical grounds.

The petition stated that owing to the COVID-19 breakout Nawaz’s medical procedure was delayed and with the ongoing lockdown in the UK he has still not been able to get admission to any hospital in the country for treatment.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani had said in his remarks, “Nawaz Sharif has to appear before the court for the hearing. He may face additional three-year imprisonment if he is absconder in the reference. Skipping appearances in the trial is also a crime.”

Stay in London

It should be mentioned here that the fresh medical reports of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif have been submitted to the Lahore High Court.

According to the fresh report, The doctor has advised Nawaz Sharif to stay in London for the best treatment and continue medical therapy.

The report stated that due to the novel coronavirus, medical treatment of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disrupted.

Nawaz Sharif was restricted from traveling during Corona and is already suffering from depression.

Soon a time will be set for the treatment of Arteries of Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif’s platelets issue will be treated after the procedure to open the closed arteries of his heart.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, has said that Pakistan is now garnering economic dividends after controlling the novel coronavirus pandemic in its early going.

Taking to his official twitter handle on Tuesday, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar said: “Dividend of controlling COVID early paying off on the economic side also, as V-shaped recovery gets confirmed.”

He continued that Large Scale Manufacturing (LSM) figures for July show more than 9 percent growth over June and more than 5 pc growth as compared to July 2019.

Today it was reported that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecasted that the scaling up of the Ehsas Program will result in a broader economic recovery of Pakistan.

In its latest report, ADB said the COVID-19 impact will subside by the end of 2020—the end of the second quarter of FY2021—allowing global conditions to normalize and economic sentiment to improve.

The report also assumes the resumption of structural reform under an ongoing IMF Extended Fund Facility program to address macroeconomic imbalances.

Punjab CM Approves to make Orange Line train operational from Oct 25

The Punjab Chief Minister (Punjab CM) has given the approval to make the Orange Line train operational from October 25.

According to the details, The Punjab CM directed all the concerned departments to complete the operation arrangements.

The Punjab Cabinet also endorsed the decision of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

In a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Usman BUzdar yesterday, the proposal to fix the fare of the Orange Line train at Rs 50 was rejected.

To provide relief to the citizens of Lahore, the train fare was fixed at Rs. 40.

The project, which started in 2015, was to be completed at a cost of Rs 162 billion, but it took four years and Rs 300 billion for the train to get on track.

Earlier, the General Manager (GM) of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority had said that the training of the staff of the Orange Line project would be completed by October 1. This will be followed by the inauguration of the Orange Line train on October 25.

Last month, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Asim Saleem Bajwa had said that the Lahore Orange Line train would soon be opened to the public.
