TV star Kapil Sharma, who took a break from work to be with his family, is back at work and has shared pictures with his co-actors. In one of those, Kapil is seen with Krushna, Kiku Sharda, Bharti Singh, Chandan Prabhakar, and Sudesh Lehri as they pose for a group selfie.

Monsoon Spiced Vegetable Pakoras (crispy batter dumplings)

Warm monsoon rains with their sultry aftermath were always a reason to cook up these crispy vegetable chickpea batter pakoras (crispy dumplings). The true essence of summer rains and homely comfort when washed down with a cup of Cardamom milky tea or ‘chai’. You can use any vegetable you like! Even cheese works! 

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams chickpea flour / gram flour
  • 50 grams rice flour (not ground rice)
  • 1 teaspoon dry roasted cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder / cayenne
  • Tap water to make the batter
  • Enough vegetable oil to fry the pakoras
  • 6 slices of aubergines, halved
  • 5 okra, sliced into 4 pieces horizontally
  • 1/2 a red onion, cut into thin rings
  • To garnish: 1 tsp finely chopped mint leaves 1 green chilli, sliced thinly 1 tsp chaat masala (optional, can be found in most South Asian shop, a tangy spice blend)

Method:

  • Whip up the batter ingredients into a thick batter by adding water slowly.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan (use as much as you like, I prefer to shallow fry). Keep the oil on medium heat.
  • Dip each slice of vegetable in the batter until coated evenly, dip into hot oil and fry either side until light brown.
  • Drain on kitchen paper and serve garnished with chopped mint leaves and sliced green chilli and chaat masala (You can also substitute chaat masala with a sprinkling of red chilli powder and ground cumin)

Ingredients:

1 tsp chili sauce

1 tsp garlic paste

½ tsp ginger paste

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp mustard paste

2 tsp mix herbs

Black pepper to taste

Salt to taste

1 tbsp caramel flavoured syrup

6 nos baby potato, peeled and parboiled

5-6 satay sticks

Method:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and apply the mixture on the potatoes and keep aside for 30 mins. Arrange on the satay stick and grill with butter and serve hot.

While advising showbiz stars, she said that it is better for a person to stay at home than go to award shows.

A short video clip of an interview of Mathira is going viral on social media in which the actress can be seen talking about award shows.

In the viral video clip, it can be seen that Mathira while talking to the host of the show, Noman Ijaz, says that if one wants to get fame, they can get it at home to; it is not necessary to go to award shows.

Mathira said that there are many people who admire the dress of actresses in award shows but at the back same people speak ill about them.

“That’s why I believe it’s better to sit at home and stay away from things than listen to people’s criticism,” she said.

While talking about her career she said that when I entered this industry, I was very scared of people.

Max Wilcher, a resident of Augusta, Georgia, and his wife, Trish, have discovered 18 snakes under their bed before going to bed.

Talking to local media, Trish said that she noticed something moving on the floor under the bed when she got a little closer to see the moving thing in a few moments, her husband saw a snake.

“And then a second later another piece moved,” Wilcher said. “And I went to my husband: ‘We have snakes!’”

He added that the 18 were found under the bed but they did not want to kill them so they grabbed the snakes with tools and collected them in a bag and left them in a nearby creek without any difficulty.


Max’s wife said she called wildlife experts after the incident to find more baby snakes.

Environmental educator Camelia Sharmin says snakes can help you if rats bother you in a home, as their bodies are warmer in summer than in winter, so they stay active during the cold season and hide in houses.

When you walk into your own home, you usually do not smell much out of the ordinary. Odor blindness, it’s called. That does not mean however that your house is not filled with weird odors or at least musty air. Do you want to spruce up your home with a nice smell? Of course, you could buy an air freshener from the store, but inhaling those vapors is not all that healthy. Luckily, there’s another way!

Lemon and rosemary

Do you happen to have lemon and rosemary lying around the house? Good! Because this is exactly what you need to make your own air freshener. The nice thing about this is that it is not expensive and that you can be sure that your homemade air freshener actually smells nice.

Do you want to know how to make your own air freshener like that?

Requirements

Naturally, air fresheners can be bought from the store. But did you know that you can make one yourself with little effort? The only things you need are a pot, water, lemon, rosemary, and vanilla extract.

This is how you prepare it:

Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil.

Slice the lemon and add it to the water along with the sprigs of thyme and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.

Leave it on low heat during the day and add water if necessary.

This way, your house will smell fresh the whole day.

In a burner

Leaves the pot on the stove the entire day, but you can also put the fragrant water in an oil or scent burner. When you do this, leave the pot with the ingredients on the stove for a while, so the fragrances have time to diffuse into the water. Then, fish the rosemary and lemon slices from the water and pour some of the water into a burner. The burner will diffuse the scent naturally because a candle heats the liquid, so you won’t have to leave a pot to simmer on the stove all day long.

Bakra Eid Special: 3 tastiest homemade sauces and dips to serve at your BBQ

Preparing special recipes on Eid-ul-Adha Recipes or Bakra Eid Recipes is an important aspect of our religion and culture. Everyone makes traditional and delicious Eid recipes during the 3 days of Eid.

Eid ul Adha is a special day for all Muslims because of Sunat-e-Ebrahimi Qurbani.  There are so many traditional recipes, cooked during these days.

We usually make Bakray ki Kaleji (Goat Liver), Sheer khurma, mutton tawa roast and yakni pulao with garlic yogurt raita on the 1st eid day breakfast and lunch. At dinner, we invite our big family and enjoy BBQ with different styles of salads and suaces/dips like yogurt garlic dip, tamarind mint dip, raita, imli chutney, podina Mint chutney. In BBQ we make BBQ Chops, Sheesh Kebab, Mutton / Beef boti.

But the BBQ without sauces and dips is incomplete so here are three great sauces to serve at your BBQ!

1. Smokey BBQ sauce

This smokey BBQ sauce can lift any barbecue dish to the next level. This recipe makes enough for 6 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 375 ml passata
  • 45 g brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ground paprika
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (dijon)

Method:

  • Heat up a tablespoon of oil in a saucepan and fry the onion and garlic on low heat for about 3 minutes.
  • Add all of the other ingredients to the pan along with 175 ml water.
  • Blend everything together using a handheld blender and let it cook for about 15 minutes on low heat. Stir regularly!
  • Flavour to taste with salt and pepper.

This is one of our favourite sauces! It’s very easy to make and so delicious!

2. Honey mustard sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 4 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • half a teaspoon soy sauce
  • half a teaspoon sugar
  • a quarter of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Method:

  • Put all of the ingredients in a bowl that’s microwave safe and stir everything together with a fork until it’s evenly mixed.
  • Place the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds and then stir again.
  • Cover the sauce with foil and leave it to rest for six hours. This is necessary for the flavours to really work well together.

3. Salsa sauce

A good salsa sauce is a must at any barbecue. You can buy one at the supermarket, but it’ll much tastier if you make one yourself!

Ingredients

  • 300 g peeled tomatoes, diced
  • 70 g tomato sauce
  • 60 g tomato puree
  • half a green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of chili flakes
  • pinch of ground cumin
  • pinch of pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • splash of vinegar
  • fresh coriander, to taste (optional)

Method:

  • Put all of the ingredients into a pan and fry it on low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Divide the salsa over 2 or 3 mason jars.
  • Boil some water in a soup pot and place the mason jars in there for about 10 minutes.
  • Carefully pour the water out of the pot and leave mason jars to dry and cool down.
  • Place the jars in the fridge.
  • Serve the salsa when it’s cool. If you want, add more coriander.
