PSL 2021: Babar-Sharjeel Likely to Be the Openers For Karachi Kings

PSL 2021: Karachi's first option opening duo will be Babar and Sharjeel

Despite the presence of New Zealand’s veteran opener Martin Guptill, Karachi Kings’ opener Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan are likely to open for the franchise as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 remainders are resuming from today (Wednesday).

During a virtual press conference, Skipper Imad Wasim said that the opening pair will be discussed by team management after a thorough evaluation of the squad’s necessities during PSL 2021 remainders.

Imad stated, “I am the sort of person who doesn’t like to change the openers. We will have a discussion about it. It depends on the position we are in. I have no intentions of making too many changes. So I think you are probably going to see Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan, to be honest. We will do whatever is necessary for the team. We will sit together and talk to Babar, Sharjeel, and Guptill. But I probably think Babar and Sharjeel will open for us.”

The all-rounder declared that there was no pressure to defend the title and that the players will give their 100% in all situations.

Imad also mentioned that if the team requires him at a higher position, he may consider moving up the batting order.

“If my team needs it, then I can consider batting a little higher in the order. Individual performances however are not the aim. I will do whatever is good for the team. If I feel that other bowlers are bowling better than me, then I will keep using them instead of bowling myself,” he concluded.

Neymar scored one and provided the other as Brazil beat Paraguay

Neymar leads Brazil to a perfect six in World Cup qualifying

Brazil’s perfect start to World Cup qualification on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Paraguay, with Neymar securing one goal and creating the other.

With Neymar scored one goal and creating the other, Brazil maintained their perfect start to World Cup qualification with a 2-0 win over Paraguay.

Substitute Lucas Paqueta clinched the game late into injury time in Asuncion, giving Brazil a six-point advantage at the top of South America’s sole qualifying group.

Brazil got off to a strong start, taking the lead after less than four minutes. Gabriel Jesus, who had been returned to the starting lineup, crossed from the right, Neymar was unmarked at the back post and bobbled the ball past goalkeeper Antony Silva.

Ederson saved a Gustavo Gomez header for Paraguay in the second half, he somehow headed Neymar’s cross wide from four yards out.

Brazil had opportunities to win the game on the counter-attack, but Neymar struck wide and Gomez superbly blocked Richarlison’s strike.

Argentina got off to a fast start, taking advantage of poor home defense to go up 2-0 within eight minutes, thanks to goals from Cristian Romero and Leandro Paredes.

Colombia’s substitutes, though, turned the game around in the second half.

PSL 2021: Spinner Rashid Khan’s inclusion into the squad will boost Lahore Qalandars’ performance, Aqib Javed

Lahore Qalandars head coach is worried about the dew factor in PSL

The Lahore Qalandars head coach Aqib Javed said the dew factor will play a role in the upcoming matches of the PSL 2021 ahead of the remainders, resuming today (Wednesday) in Abu Dhabi.

While speaking to media officials, Aqib Javed has termed the late matches of the PSL 2021 as the “biggest challenge” for everyone.

Speaking about the training sessions, Javed said the Qalandars were getting used to the Abu Dhabi conditions. “As far as the heat is concerned, it will not have a big difference on the players. We held a couple of training sessions, they went well,” he added.

He further added, “Afghan spinner Rashid Khan’s inclusion into the squad will boost the Qalandars’ performance.”

“Team had a great combination when the first half of the PSL 2021 was being played,” Javed added.

However, he said due to the league’s postponement, the combination had been affected a bit.

“However, we will try to give our best performance,” he said. “Ferguson, Faulkner and Tim David will hopefully rise to the expectations for the team,” added the Qalandars head coach.

He said the Qalandars had tried to cover each base, adding that bowlers such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Rashid Khan, considered among the best in the world when it comes to T20 cricket, were in the squad.

“We also have Mohammad Hafeez and Fakhar Zaman in the batting line-up, Ben Dunk always makes his presence felt in the team.”

What Is Dew Factor?

Excess moisture on the surface turns the ball slippery, posing significant challenges for the bowling side, especially spinners. This is known as the “dew factor” in cricket.

Smartphone: How It Affects Our Diet & Weight?

How Your Smartphone Could Affect Your Weight and Diet

A smartphone is the most important aspect in today’s era, through which we can communicate, keep ourselves socialized and so on.

You may keep your smartphone close for an alarm or even to observe the quality of your sleep for health purposes.

However, your smartphone is not a good sleep companion! In addition to bedtime, your phone is harming you during the day in more ways than you realize.

The study looked at data from over 53,000 Korean adolescents from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey and discovered that teens who used their phones for more than 2 hours per day were significantly more likely to eat more processed foods and fewer fruits and vegetables than teens who put their phones down more frequently.

Dr. Rekha B. Kumar, attending endocrinologist at Weill Cornell Medicine and medical director of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, told Healthline, “These results do not surprise me considering that screen time is a totally sedentary activity occupying time in which teens could be participating in sports or other physical activities.”

Other outcomes from the study include:

  1. When compared to individuals who spent less than 2 hours a day on their phone, teens who spent at least 5 hours a day on their phone were more likely to consume carbonated and noncarbonated sugar-sweetened beverages, as well as eat fast food, chips, and instant noodles.
  2. People who used their phones to seek information ate better than those who used them to communicate, utilize messenger, play games, watch videos, listen to music, or connect on social media.
  3. Teens who spent the majority of their time on their phones playing games, watching videos, listening to music, or reading webtoons or web novels were more likely to be overweight or obese.

France imposes unprecedented $268 million fine On Google

France imposes a 220 million euro fine on Google for dominating ads

Technology giant Google has been fined $268 million by France’s competition regulator on Monday for abusing its market power in the online advertising industry.

Google was found to have given preferential treatment to its own ad inventory auction service AdX and to Doubleclick Ad Exchange. It’s a real-time platform for allowing clients to choose and buy advertising, by the competition authority.

The authority’s president Isabelle de Silva said, “It is the first ruling in the world to scrutinize the complex algorithmic processes for the auctions that determine online ‘display’ advertising.”

Media companies looking to sell ad space on their websites or mobile applications through rival platforms frequently. It discovered that Google’s services were unfairly competing against rivals through a number of means.

Regulators discovered that Doubleclick would adjust the commission it earned while making a sale dependent on the pricing offered by other so-called ad servers.

The regulator stated, “The practices are particularly serious because they are penalizing Google’s competitors in the SSP market as well as the editors of websites and mobile apps.”

Media companies have seen a drop in internet ad revenue, “even as their business model has been strongly undermined by the decline in paper subscriptions and the associated drop in advertising revenue.”

The findings were not challenged by Google, and the regulator stated that the business has agreed to make operational adjustments, including enhanced interoperability with third-party ad placement providers.

Maria Gomri, legal director at Google France stated, “We are going to test and develop these changes in the coming months before deploying them more broadly, including some on a global scale.”

The penalties are a small number compared to Google’s $55.3 billion in revenue in the first quarter of this year, primarily from online ad sales.

Last week, Facebook was the subject of a rival competition investigation from the European Union and the United Kingdom, both looking into whether the social media giant is misusing data from advertisers to gain an unfair advantage in the online classifieds market.

Apple “Find My” network Will Now Locate iOS 15 devices even if they’re off

Apple's 'Find My' network locates iOS 15 devices even if they are turned-off

World’s renowned technology brand Apple is coming forth with amazing and mindfulness features to facilitate its users and now has made changes to its tracking network “Find My”.

Apple’s WWDC 2021 briefing has ended but the changes made to “Find My” are explained in detail in one area of the iOS 15 Preview.

Aside from adding live-streamed locations of contacts who share their location with you, your iPhone or iPad is much easier to find if it’s lost or stolen in iOS 15. Even if it is erased, as long as Activation Lock is enabled, the device will still display your details on the Hello screen and alert users that this device can be tracked by its true owner.

According to Apple, the “Find My” function can now find devices even after they’ve been switched off. However, the preview page didn’t explain how this works, so it’s unclear whether you can expect one last ping from where the device was when it ran out of battery power, or if there will be some kind of low-power Bluetooth tracking that stays on even when your phone is turned off.

9to5Mac has a snapshot of the popup that pops when an iOS 15 device is running low on battery to inform owners about the new tracking features.

Separation alerts will inform you if you’ve left “a device, AirTag, or compatible third-party item behind,” while other enhancements will help you discover missing AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.

On the other hand, Apple has announced watchOS 8, which brings new Portraits to watch face, a new Mindfulness app, a sleeping respiratory rate tracker, new workout types and more. It is available to developers and will be made available to the general public this fall.

The new watchOS 8 brings redesigned Home app, which offers a better way to access accessories and scenes needed in a particular moment, and the ability to control accessories by room. Users can now also quickly broadcast a message throughout the home or to individual rooms via HomePod, HomePod mini, or other personal devices.

Apple will continue to deliver security updates for iOS 14 after iOS 15 released

Apple will continue to deliver security updates for iOS 14 after iOS 15

Apple provides important operating system updates for its devices on a now-familiar annual plan, and the best approach is to install them as soon as possible, whether for new features or increased security.

However, modifications can sometimes break certain apps or third-party devices. People are sometimes unable to update immediately due to organizational constraints.

Some factors prevent individuals from updating right away, and problems do occasionally get through. It requires patching in quickly-released versions .0.1 revisions as seen with iOS 11.0.1, 12.0.1, and 14.0.1.

For whatever reason, some customers may prefer to stay on their current OS version for a while. Apple revealed that this time around, you’ll be allowed to stay on iOS 14 even after iOS 15 is released.

iOS now offers a choice between two software update versions in the Settings app. You can update to the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as it’s released for the latest features and most complete set of security updates. Or continue on iOS 14 and still get important security updates until you’re ready to upgrade to the next major version.

Now you can get critical security updates without learning a new operating system. It will prevent potentially corrupting data in apps that don’t work with iOS 15.

According to Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering “Every year, we push ourselves to develop new technology. It helps users take more control of their data and make informed decisions about whom they share it with. This year’s updates include innovative features that give users deeper insights and more granular control than ever before.”

WhatsApp To Roll Out Flash Calls Feature for Quick Log In

WhatsApp is trying to develop flash calls for Android

Popular messaging application WhatsApp is working on a new feature “Flash Call” that will help users to log into their accounts quickly.

Using this automatic verification method via WhatsApp Flash Call, the company will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, checking the last phone number in your phone’s log is equal to the number that gives you the 6-digit code.

WhatsApp is now working on an introduction for the feature to explain why it needs to be permitted to make and manage calls and access to your phone’s log.

According to WABetaInfo, “WhatsApp will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, verifying that the last phone number in your phone’s log is equal to the number that gives you the 6-digit code. This phone number is always different, so there is no way to trick this method, ensuring a safe experience.”

However, the messaging application will not use your call history for any other purpose. It will only compare the most recent entry from your call history with the phone number that is supposed to call you and will not be used in any other circumstances.

WhatsApp is implementing flash calls for Android

  1. This feature won’t be implemented on WhatsApp for iOS: Apple does not provide a public API for reading call history.
  2. This feature is optional: You can continue login into WhatsApp by entering the 6-digit code that was sent to you through SMS or phone call.
  3. WhatsApp won’t use your call history for other purposes: WhatsApp will simply match the most recent entry in your call history with the phone number that is meant to call you. This feature will not be used in any other circumstances.

Furthermore, this feature is being developed and will be available in a future WhatsApp for Android update.
