TEHRAN: Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that military operations against Israel have been temporarily suspended, according to Iranian state media.

In a statement, the headquarters said Iranian forces had carried out military actions in response to Israeli strikes and alleged aggression in southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut, including the Dahiyeh area.

The statement added that the operations were intended to support the people of Lebanon and respond to Israeli actions, describing the response as “painful and effective,” and warning that Israel and its allies should “learn a lesson” from it.

However, IRGC spokesman Brig. Gen. Ebrahim Zolfaghari cautioned that if Israel continues what Tehran describes as provocations or attacks in the future, it will face a “decisive response without hesitation.”

The announcement came after comments by US President Donald Trump calling for Iran and Israel to immediately halt mutual attacks.

Iranian media also reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps recently claimed responsibility for ballistic missile strikes targeting key air bases in northern Israel, including Nevatim Air Base and Tel Nof Air Base.

Tehran maintains that a ceasefire agreement reportedly reached on April 8 among Iran, the United States, and Israel was conditional on a full end to hostilities across all fronts, while accusing Israel of continuing military operations in Lebanon.

Iran fires missiles at Israel; Oil prices surge

Earlier, Iran launched missiles at Israel on Sunday, prompting retaliatory strikes from Israel and threatening a tenuous ceasefire between Washington and Tehran that has been in place since early April. IRGC said it targeted Israel’s Nevatim and Tel Nof bases.

The Israeli military said it identified incoming missile fire and activated air defense systems. Early Monday local time, the Israel Defense Forces announced on X that it had struck military targets in western and central Iran.
