Pakistan has received its first major success at the Commonwealth Games as women’s boxer Fatima Zahra reached the semifinals after winning her quarterfinal bout.

Fatima Zahra defeated New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson 5-0 in the women’s 60-kilogram quarterfinal to secure her place in the semifinals.

The bout was held at SEC Hall Five in Glasgow, where Fatima delivered a strong performance in all three rounds. All five judges scored the fight in her favor.

Under the boxing competition format, Fatima’s semifinal qualification has guaranteed Pakistan at least a bronze medal.

Earlier, Fatima also won a bronze medal for Pakistan at the Islamic Solidarity Games.

Fatima Zahra is now aiming to win her semifinal bout and qualify for the Commonwealth Games final.
