Pakistani boxer Fatima Zahra has won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Pakistani woman to win a boxing medal in the history of the event.

During the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Fatima Zahra was defeated by a Canadian boxer in the women’s 60-kilogram semifinal.

The Canadian boxer took a 4-1 lead in the first round, while the referee stopped the contest in the second round, resulting in a defeat for Fatima. However, she secured a bronze medal for Pakistan.

This marks Pakistan’s first boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games since 2014.

Fatima Zahra also became the first Pakistani female boxer to win a medal in the Commonwealth Games boxing competition.

Earlier, Fatima reached the semifinals after defeating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson in the women’s 60-kilogram quarterfinal.
