Peshawar: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing temporary panic among residents.
The tremors were reported in upper regions, including Malakand, Dir, and Chitral, as well as in Khyber, Landi Kotal, and surrounding areas.
According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Residents described the shaking as lasting a few seconds, prompting many to leave their homes and buildings as a precaution. Despite the intensity, there were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Disaster management officials have advised the public to stay alert and be prepared for possible aftershocks.
