The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has significantly expanded its public Wi-Fi initiative, doubling its coverage across the province to enhance digital accessibility.

PSCA officials confirmed that they have increased the number of free Wi-Fi access points in Lahore from 230 to 430. They have also expanded the service from 11 to 22 districts, including Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Hasan Abdal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree.

This move builds on a series of recent upgrades aimed at improving internet access in urban and semi-urban areas of Punjab. Just last week, the authority activated public Wi-Fi in Gujrat city as part of its expanding network.

PSCA data shows that over 37.22 million users have benefited from the service so far, consuming more than 905 terabytes of data. These figures highlight the increasing demand for reliable and free internet access in public spaces.

To meet growing usage demands and improve performance, the PSCA has upgraded its infrastructure to Wi-Fi 6 technology. This upgrade will deliver faster internet speeds, lower latency, and more stable connections for users, particularly in high-density areas.

The PSCA’s free Wi-Fi project supports the government’s broader goal to promote digital inclusion and smart city solutions. By expanding internet access in public areas, the initiative helps bridge the digital divide and enhances everyday convenience for millions of residents.
