ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a joint session of Parliament to be held on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Journalist and Media Workers Protection Bill is expected to be presented during the session.
In addition, the Joint Sitting is likely to take up the Minorities Rights Commission Bill and the Pakistan Animal Council Bill.
This will be the first joint session after a gap of nine months, during which PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman are also expected to address the House.
In light of the current political situation, the session is being considered highly significant.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments and enhanced economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the Egyptian foreign minister conveyed a special message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the President of Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the 77-year-long historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Egypt. He emphasized the need for both countries to transform this longstanding diplomatic relationship into a broader economic partnership.
He highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, construction, agriculture, mining and information technology.
