The number of people killed in traffic accidents across Karachi has reached 322 and more than 3,000 others injured in just 112 days.

According to the data, heavy traffic has been the most dangerous factor, with 111 deaths caused by heavy vehicles, raising serious concerns about the effectiveness of the city’s traffic system.

Rescue officials said that among those who died, 234 were men, while 44 women and 44 children also lost their lives, showing that the roads are no longer safe for anyone.

Over speeding trailers were responsible for 52 deaths, while water tankers caused 30 fatalities. Similarly, buses and Mazda vehicles were involved in accidents that killed 12 people each, and dumpers caused the deaths of 5 individuals.

Continuous violations of traffic rules, over speeding, and a lack of proper monitoring are being seen as the main reasons behind these accidents, increasing fear and insecurity among citizens.

Residents have urged authorities to limit the movement of heavy traffic and strictly enforce traffic laws to prevent further loss of lives.
