An Islamabad local court has sent suspect Umar Hayat, accused in the case of TikToker Sana Yousuf's alleged murder, to jail on judicial remand.
During the hearing at Islamabad District and Sessions Court, police produced the suspect in court after completion of his physical remand. As the prosecution did not seek an extension of physical remand, the court ordered the suspect to be sent to jail on judicial remand.
During the proceedings, the suspect's lawyers stated that there is significant media hype surrounding the case and that the accused is not being allowed to meet with his parents, which they argued is a human and legal right.
The court took notice of these concerns and indicated that it would review the matter of visitation rights in the next hearing.
