The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave alert for upper and central Sindh warning that most districts of the province including Karachi will continue to experience severe heat conditions from today until May 11.

In Karachi the weather is expected to remain intensely hot and humid with weakened sea breezes likely to further aggravate the overall heat intensity across the city.

According to the Met Office the maximum temperature in Karachi may rise up to 38°C. However due to elevated humidity levels the perceived temperature is expected to feel significantly higher ranging between 40°C and 42°C.

The humidity level in the city has been recorded at 78%, while winds are currently blowing from the west at a speed of 19 km/h. Meteorologists say these conditions are contributing to the uncomfortable and oppressive weather pattern being experienced across the coastal city.

In view of the ongoing heatwave conditions, authorities have advised citizens particularly children, the elderly, and women to take precautionary measures.

Residents have also been urged to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and to stay hydrated to reduce the risk of heat-related health issues.
