ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers will be required to pay a huge amount of Rs 1,952 billion as capacity charges throughout the fiscal year 2025. This cost will be added to the new power purchase price (PPP), making it Rs 18.39 per unit within the total price of Rs 30.88 per unit for the upcoming financial year. For the outgoing fiscal year, the target for capacity charges was Rs 1,874 billion, with consumers paying Rs 17.02 per unit for electricity until June 30, 2024. According to the data from Nepra sent to the government, the power purchase price of distribution companies (DISCOs) has increased from Rs 26.02 per unit in FY24 to Rs 30.88 per unit in FY25, which is an increase of Rs 4.86 per unit. In fiscal year 2025, consumers will also pay Rs 1,161 billion in energy charges, adding Rs 10.94 per unit to the electricity price. Additionally, consumers will be charged Rs 153.755 billion in FY25, contributing Rs 1.54 per unit to the power purchase prices of DISCOs.
