In a bid to ease travelling challenges faced by Rawalpindi’s citizens, the city is gearing up to introduce its electric bus facility next year. Rawalpindi Electric Bus Service initiative aims to alleviate transportation issues by starting six routes, including a major connection from Taxila, Wah Cantt, IJ Principal Road to Octori 26, and another linking Daultala with Rawalpindi. Moreover, keep work on the Metrobus tracks is planned from June to December this year. During a recent press conference, Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan unveiled these plans. He stressed his frequent visits to Rawalpindi under Chief Minister Mariam Nawaz Sharif’s command to tackle transportation and traffic management challenges effectively. Consultations with members of national and provincial assemblies are already ongoing, with local MNAs and MPAs actively participating in route reviews. Minister Khan highlighted the neglect of Metro bus organization conservation by the previous government over the past eight to nine years, leading to the need of repair work starting in June and expected to conclude by December. This initiative not only promises enhanced transportation services but also highlights a commitment to sustainable and modernized urban mobility solutions in Rawalpindi.
