DG Khan School Tragedy: Roof collapse leaves 4 dead, 20 hurt

Emergency has been declared in all government hospitals in the district.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A tragic incident occurred in Dera Ghazi Khan where the roof of school classroom collapsed, killing four children and leaving 20 others injured.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the incident took place at a private educational institution located on a road between Block W and V, where a classroom roof suddenly gave way, trapping multiple students under the debris.

Rescue 1122 said the emergency call was received at 11:57 a.m., after which seven ambulances, two fire vehicles, two rescue vehicles, and two motorbike units along with additional staff were immediately dispatched to the site.

Rescue teams launched an intensive search and rescue operation upon arrival, while police and district administration were informed promptly. Law enforcement personnel assisted in securing the area, controlling crowds, and supporting rescue efforts.

According to Rescue Punjab spokesperson Farooq Ahmed, several children have been safely rescued from the rubble so far, while four deaths have been confirmed.

The rescue operation is being supervised by District Emergency Officer Engineer Ahmed Kamal, who is leading all available resources to safely retrieve the trapped children.

Senior officials including Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Ashfaq Ahmed, RPO Azhar Akram, and DPO Sadiq Baloch visited the site, reviewed the situation, and are personally monitoring the rescue operations.

Emergency has been declared in all government hospitals in the district to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured children.
