ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of pay raise for Senate Chairman and National Assembly Speaker.
According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the salary increases for the Senate Chairman, Deputy Chairman, National Assembly Speaker, and Deputy Speaker.
Sources further said that the Prime Minister has sought a report on the matter from the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate.
According to sources, the Speaker will decide on the increase in the salaries of the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker and Deputy Chairman Senate in light of the report.
It should be noted that in the next fiscal year, the salaries of government employees have been increased by 10 percent and pensions by 7 percent after which the speaker and the chairman of the Senate are being criticized for increasing the heavy salaries.
On the post -budget press conference, the Finance Minister defended the increase in salaries of ministers, parliamentarians, chairman and speaker, saying that their salaries did not increase since 2016.
In addition, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has termed these privileges and salaries in a statement on social media as financial prostitution.
