In-camera session on national security begins at Parliament House

ISLAMABAD: In-camera session of the National Security Committee has begun in which important political and military leadership, including Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, are participating.

The session of the National Security Committee in the National Assembly has begun, with important political and military leadership including Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant General Asim Malik.

PTI members did not attend the meeting, but Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur has represented his province in the session while Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti are also present.

The governors of all four provinces, Chief Minister Gilgit -Baltistan and Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, IG police from all four provinces are also present at the National Security Committee.

16 members of the PPP are attending the meeting under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto, and 4 MQM MPs attended the meeting under the leadership of Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while a delegation of JUI-F attended the meeting under the leadership of Maulana Fazal ur Rehman.

During the meeting of the National Security Parliamentary Committee, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other parliamentary leaders will share their thoughts after the Director General Intelligence Bureau (IB)  briefing.

A question and answer session will also be held where the military leadership and intelligence agencies will answer questions.

On the other hand, extra ordinary security arrangements have been made on the occasion of the National Security Parliamentary Committee meeting and snipers are also deployed on the roof of the Parliament House.
