ARLINGTON, Texas: BTS member "Jimin" gave young cancer patient an unforgettable moment, sparking a wave of fan support during the group’s “ARIRANG” world tour in Arlington, Texas, when he embraced her and kissed her on the cheek, prompting BTS global fanbase ARMY to turn the emotional encounter into a powerful fundraising drive for children battling cancer.
The young fan, Olivya, was among children with serious illnesses invited to attend the BTS concert through Heroes for Children, a U.S. nonprofit that supports children with cancer and their families. During the show, Jimin walked toward the audience, noticed Olivya and warmly embraced her before giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek.
Overwhelmed with happiness, Olivya celebrated the unexpected moment by saying, “I got a kiss!”
Heroes for Children later shared the encounter on social media, describing Jimin’s gesture as a moment of “joy, love and pure happiness” for a child who has faced difficult moments. The organization said the memory would remain with Olivya and her family forever.
Jimin, one of BTS seven members, has become a major global star through his singing, dancing and performances. His influence has also reached beyond the group. In 2023, his solo song “Like Crazy” became the first song by a South Korean solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100, while his debut solo album “FACE” reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
Heroes for Children launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign to help children and families affected by pediatric cancer in Texas. ARMY quickly responded, pushing donations beyond the original target and raising $50,923.87 in less than a day, according to the organization.
What began as a brief, heartfelt interaction between a global music star and a young fan battling cancer therefore became something much bigger. Jimin’s simple gesture brought Olivya joy, while ARMY’s response transformed that moment into tangible support for families facing the difficult realities of childhood cancer.
The Jimin gesture offers another example of how a powerful fan community can turn admiration for an artist into action proving that sometimes, one small moment on a concert stage can inspire thousands of people to make a difference.
