Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed eight international flight routes in the past six months, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif informed the Senate on Tuesday.
The restored routes include Paris, Sharjah, Al Ain, Muscat, Jeddah, Madinah, and Kuwait, reconnecting Pakistan with major international destinations. This move aims to improve connectivity for passengers traveling to the Middle East and Europe while strengthening PIA’s global operations.
Key Flight Resumptions
During the Senate session, the minister highlighted that the Islamabad-Paris-Islamabad route was reopened after more than four years, now operated with Boeing 777 aircraft.Flights from Turbat to Sharjah and Turbat to Al Ain resumed after four and five months, respectively, using ATR aircraft.
Another significant restoration was the Gwadar-Muscat-Gwadar route, which had been suspended for 13 months.
The Quetta-Jeddah-Quetta route, inactive for over three years, is now operational again with Airbus A320 aircraft.
Similarly, flights from Faisalabad to Jeddah and Faisalabad to Madinah resumed after the same duration, also using Airbus A320 planes.
The Lahore-Kuwait-Lahore route, which had been suspended for seven months, is now functional again with Airbus A320 aircraft.
With these restorations, PIA aims to boost passenger convenience and expand its international reach, ensuring better connectivity for travelers.
