Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to export trained pilots to international airlines, addressing the growing demand for pilots in the region.
CAA Director General Nadir Shafi Dar stated that Pakistan’s aviation sector will soon produce more pilots than needed domestically. The CAA plans to supply trained professionals to foreign airlines to utilise this surplus.
Two international companies have already shown interest in the program. One has started Phase 1, providing ground training to selected young Pakistani pilots. Trainees have also undergone flight training in Sharjah, and eight have successfully joined private airlines in Pakistan.
To strengthen the initiative, the CAA intends to establish pilot training academies across the country, offering financial support to aspiring aviators. Local flying clubs have been encouraged to enhance their facilities to meet growing demands.
This program not only aims to boost Pakistan’s aviation sector but also reduces the typical training costs of Rs 10-15 million for pilots. By preparing skilled professionals and fostering partnerships with international airlines, the CAA’s initiative is set to create new opportunities for Pakistan’s aviation talent.
