Arooj Aftab, a singer and songwriter, performed last night at the 2023 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California, with Anoushka Shankar. They sang their hit song, Udhero Na. The renowned Pakistani performer captivated audiences with her deep vocals, earning her a nomination for “Best Global Music Performance.”

Although Arooj Aftab did not win her second Grammy last night, Pakistanis are nevertheless pleased to see the brilliant singer representing their nation on a global stage.

In Los Angeles, the 2023 Grammy Awards were held yesterday night. At the biggest awards ceremony in the music business, Hollywood stars and international performers from all over the world attended. Arooj Aftab, a Pakistani singer, stood out among the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and others at the event.

In an effort to win consecutive wins, the Grammy-winning singer was nominated for “Best Global Music Performance.” Her song Udhero Na, however, fell short this time against Bayethe by Nomcebo Zikode, Zakes Bantwini, and Wouter Kellerman.

Nevertheless, the 29-year-old stole the show as she shared the stage with Anoushka Shankar and performed her smash song in front of the biggest names in the music business.

Pakistani singer, composer, and producer Arooj resides in the US and has been making waves with her soulful music. The 37-year-work, old’s which combines numerous genres like jazz, folk, minimalism, and neo-Sufi, has been progressively attracting attention from around the world.

Arooj Aftab the first Grammy winner from Pakistan, has just submitted her latest song, Udhero Na, with Anoushka Shankar, for Grammy consideration.

She added the following caption to her Instagram image to give the update: “UDHERO NA’ FEATURING ANOUSHKA SHANKAR for your Grammy voting consideration in the Best Global Music Performance and Best Arrangement, Instrument, and Vocal categories.”

An additional quote from the song was also given by her: “… ankhon main silay hoay ho, udhero na…” and said” it is all about getting over your ex… must win for sure because we finally got over them”.

The Brooklyn-based soprano took home her first Grammy in April for the Best Global Performance category with her song Mohabbat. She was also a nominee in the Best New Artist category.

The 37-year-old has spent 15 years residing in New York and has steadily gained recognition for her work, which combines ancient Sufi traditions with folk, jazz, and minimalism influences.

She has so far released three albums: Bird Under Water (2014), Siren Islands (2018), and Vulture Prince (2021). Mohabbat was placed on former US president Barack Obama’s list of 2021 summertime songs to listen to, which increased interest in her music.

The Grammys will be held in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023, and the nominations will be revealed on November 15, 2022.
