However, it seems that even the seemingly invincible Reeves isn’t immune to the occasional mishap, as evidenced by a recent incident on the set of Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, “Good Fortune.”
During filming, Reeves, 59, sustained a significant injury that left him with a fractured kneecap. Ansari, 41, disclosed this surprising turn of events while speaking at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas. Reflecting on Reeves’ commitment to his craft, Ansari remarked, “About 15 days into shooting with me, I said, ‘Go chill in your trailer,’” revealing the moment when the accident occurred. Despite the setback, Reeves persisted, earning praise from Ansari for his unwavering determination.
Ansari highlighted the contrast between Reeves’ injury on a comedy set versus his past feats in action films. He marveled at Reeves’ ability to withstand the physical demands of roles like John Wick and Neo from “The Matrix” trilogy without ever requiring a hospital visit. “He’s done those Wick movies, all the Matrix stuff,” Ansari noted, emphasizing Reeves’ track record of pushing the boundaries of physicality on screen.
Even in the face of adversity, Reeves remained committed to completing his role in “Good Fortune,” filming all scenes except those requiring him to engage in salsa dancing. Ansari humorously recounted Reeves’ eagerness to participate in the dance sequences despite his injury, quipping, “He was like, ‘I’ll do it!’ We’re like, ‘Keanu, calm down. We’ll do the salsa dancing once your knee’s healed.’”
