Akshay Kumar is currently one of Bollywood’s most successful actors. Coming from a low-income family, he had to overcome many obstacles to attain success. In a recent interview, the Khiladi actor discussed how his family moved to Mumbai from New Delhi in a small room for 100 rupees.
In an interview, Akshay Kumar discussed his early days at Chandni Chowk, New Delhi. “We were 24 people living in the same house in Chandni Chowk,” he explained. We’d all sleep in the same room. When we woke up in the morning for exercise, everyone would jump over each other to get out.” Kumar then mentioned how they moved to Mumbai from Delhi and stayed in the Sion Koliwada neighbourhood, where they paid 100 rupees in rent.
He further added, “I swear to God, there wasn’t a single day where we did not smile or laugh. Now, that we have money, sometimes we feel a bit sad but at that time, there was nothing to be sad about, We would have dal chawal, jeera aloo, aloo gobhi, bhindi, we would eat all of this and we were happy.”
Kumar mentioned that his family would forego eating on Saturdays in order to watch movies. “We would miss our meal in the morning to save money for the ticket,” he said.
Kumar stated that he had failed his seventh grade and would have to retake the year. This irritated his father, who came to strike him. According to the actor, his father questioned him, “Tu banna kya chahta hai?” (What do you aspire to be?)” He said, “Hero banna chahta hun (I want to be a hero).” The OMG 2 star stated that he aspired to be a martial arts instructor but just said the hero line at the time.
In terms of work, he was most recently seen in Mission Raniganj as engineer Jaswant Singh Gill. The film received largely favorable critical reviews but failed to make an impact at the box office. He’ll next be featured in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (with Tiger Shroff), Welcome to the Jungle, Hera Pheri 3, and Sky Force.
