American singer and lyricist Selena Gomez shed light on the harmful ramifications of social networking.

During an interview with InStyle magazine, Gomez discussed her troubles with social media.

She started it all off by saying, “At one point Instagram became my whole world, and it was really dangerous. In my early 20s, I felt like I wasn’t pretty enough. There was a whole period in my life when I thought I needed makeup and never wanted to be seen without it.”

“The older I got, the more I evolved and realized that I needed to take control of what I was feeling. I wanted to be able to look in the mirror and feel confident to be who I am.”

She even went on to say, “Taking a break from social media was the best decision that I’ve ever made for my mental health.”

“I created a system where I still don’t have my passwords. And the unnecessary hate and comparisons went away once I put my phone down. I’ll have moments where that weird feeling will come back, but now I have a much better relationship with myself.”

“I’m a big believer in therapy, and I always feel so confident when I’m taking care of myself. If I’m not in the best headspace and my friends invite me out, I won’t go. I’ve lost my sense of FOMO, which I’m proud of.”

“Sometimes I push myself too much, and it catches up to me. But I try to balance out everything as best as I can. I like to be there for my friends and celebrate everyone. But I have to make sure that I’m OK, you know? Because if I’m not OK, I can’t be OK for other people.”

The Good for You singer revealed in an Instagram video posted on November 30 by Wondermind, “Sometimes I’m not good at it.” I’ll just wake up and I struggle maybe sometimes just getting out of bed.“

“What helps me, first and foremost, is just picking up the phone and calling someone,” she stated.

“So I think what really helps me understand myself a bit more is that I can take a step back and think of all the tools I’ve learned and try to implement them in my everyday life. That’s usually what helps me,” Selena added.

“I hate working out. It is not fun, but I’ve been doing intense boxing classes recently, and it has really helped me get a lot of frustration but also just energy out and it feels so good.“

US popular singer Selena Gomez likely to star in a horror movie based on New York City’s fashion scene.

Selena Gomez to star in STXfilms’ psychological horror-thriller Dollhouse along with Shawn Levy and his company 21 Laps.

According to media reports, the singer will chronicle the city’s “elite fashion scene” and as described, is a psychological thriller.

Gomez will also produce the project, reports added.

“Selena’s involvement is an exciting direction for this project. She is supremely talented as both a star and a producer. Teaming Selena with Shawn and Dan’s expertise in the horror-thriller genre will elevate Dollhouse and we couldn’t be more thrilled by the way this is being developed,” shared chairman STXfilms Motion Picture Group.

Earlier in August, Gomez joined hands with Hulu’s comedy series Only Murders in the Building.

The singer also revealed about why she had deleted her social media applications around two years ago.

She said, “I’m very vocal about technology. I have not personally for two years had any social media on my phone – though I use the platform, I make sure I approve things I want to write – but I don’t look at it. It’s not on my phone,”

“It was complicated. But I think I’m happy to understand it. Once I did find out more about who I was, I was proud. I also felt comfortable knowing that I wasn’t alone and I was going to get through it. So I will always be passionate about that. It’s something I will continue to talk about,” she added.
