Jason Momoa’s ‘Aquaman 2’ teaser trailer sparks concerns among viewers

Warner Bros. has unveiled the initial teaser trailer for Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman 2, as the film’s release approaches in approximately three months.

The 30-second teaser provides a glimpse into Momoa’s Aquaman as he rides a seahorse in preparation for a showdown with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta, reprising his role as the movie’s antagonist. While the movie features Amber Heard as Mera, she was conspicuously absent from the brief promotional clip. Additionally, Nicole Kidman stars as Queen Atlanna, and Patrick Wilson appears as Orm, commanding immense underwater vessels.

Primarily, the teaser of Aquaman 2 serves as an announcement for the upcoming official trailer, scheduled to debut on Thursday.

The film’s initial promotional efforts were notably delayed due to controversy stemming from the public legal battle between former spouses Johnny Depp and Amber Heard last year. This led to speculation about Heard’s casting, with rumors suggesting that the studio was considering recasting her role.

Some fans have raised questions regarding DC’s promotional budget, with reports suggesting that the studio is bracing for the film to underperform and, consequently, has limited its marketing efforts.

One fan commented on the trailer, stating, “Because they know it’s bad, they know it’ll lose money, and they aren’t putting a marketing budget behind it at all.” However, some industry insiders have challenged these claims, with KC Walsh of The GWW noting, “I don’t think so; the budget has got to be over 200 million at this point.”

Furthermore, speculation has arisen that Jason Momoa’s support for the SAG-AFTRA strike might limit his ability to promote the film, potentially affecting its performance.

Lucy Hale to mark her comeback to Pretty Little Liars universe

The Hating Game actress, Lucy Hale, discussed the Pretty Little Liars spin-off and the probable return of her Aria Montgomery character in an interview.

After the original series concluded in 2016, the PLL franchise was brought back in 2022 with the release of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.

After it was announced that Imogen’s, portrayed by Bailee Madison, child was going to be adopted by Aria and Ezra Fitz, played by Aria and Ian Harding in the original series, the final episode of season 1 of the 2022 series touched upon the return of Hale’s character.

The 34-year-old actress, Lucy Hale, is prepared to see the mystery drama through to the end even if there hasn’t been any word about the second season.

I adore it. Knowing that Aria and Ezra are still going strong makes me happy. That’s fantastic. All the way for Aria and Ezra,” she told during the interview.

Would I be interested in a cameo? Yes, absolutely,” said Hale. “That sounds like fun to me. I’m overjoyed that the show is succeeding and am eager to watch the next second season. I really like how each season has a distinct theme.”

Max confirmed the continuation of the Pretty Little Liars spin-off in April by announcing that filming had begun. Plans, however, failed as a result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.

Nicolas Cage Ditches Montreal Festival Amidst SAG-AFTRA Strike

Hollywood superstar Nicolas Cage has canceled his plans to attend the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. He was initially scheduled to be present for the world premiere of “Sympathy for the Devil,” directed by Yuval Adler, on July 22. Additionally, Cage was expected to receive the prestigious Cheval Noir career achievement award at the festival.

The Fantasia Film Festival’s official website notified fans of Cage’s absence, attributing it to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. They expressed their sadness over the situation, stating, “We’re sad to announce that due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Nicolas Cage will no longer be able to attend the festival next weekend.”

The website also reassured attendees that they would continue to update their platform if any other guests decide to withdraw from Montreal’s film festival. In the midst of evolving circumstances, their thoughts are with the actors and the Writers Guild of America (WGA), expressing hope for a fair resolution soon.

Netflix’s ‘The Sandman’ Faces Hurdles Due To SAG-AFTRA Strike

Netflix’s popular series, The Sandman, has faced significant challenges due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, leaving fans curious about the show’s filming schedule.

The strike was initiated after a unanimous decision to renegotiate current contracts, and before the vote passed, The Sandman had been actively filming in various locations across the UK, with scenes featuring the titular character’s siblings.

On July 13th, Neil Gaiman confirmed the halt in filming, stating, “SAG-AFTRA strike is on. Sandman has stopped shooting completely, along with everything else that was squeaking by without writers. I hope that the AMPTP sees reason and gets back to the table with the actors and the writers. I have no reason at this point to think they will see reason.” This comes nearly a year after the series’ renewal announcement on November 3rd, 2022.

Gaiman expressed his delight at the series’ reception, with millions of viewers embracing The Sandman on Netflix, from long-time fans to newcomers. He also shared his excitement about collaborating with Netflix and Warner Bros., alongside Allan Heinberg and David Goyer, to bring more of The Sandman’s captivating stories to life.

While the official release date for Season 2 of The Sandman is yet to be announced, the strike has led many to speculate that it may be delayed until 2024, as opposed to the previously anticipated 2023 release.

‘Barbie’ Star Margot Robbie Stands Firmly With SAG-AFTRA Strike

At the London premiere of the upcoming film directed by Greta Gerwig, which features the iconic Mattel doll, Margot Robbie demonstrated her support for the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which has now merged with the writers’ strike that began in May.

During interviews at the event, the 33-year-old actress was asked by Sky News if she was backing the strike, to which she promptly replied, “Absolutely.” She also added, “I very much am in support of all the unions and I’m a part of SAG, so I would absolutely stand by them.”

Fran Drescher, the president of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), announced during a press conference in Los Angeles that they will call for a strike if their demands are not met.

The strike call comes after the union’s negotiating committee’s talks with major studios and streaming services about a new contract failed, even after extending the deadline by weeks, according to reports.

As a result of the strike call, all actors would halt working on scripted films and TV series, and they will also not be promoting any upcoming work through premieres, interviews, or their social media accounts for the duration of the strike.

Many actors have shown solidarity with the movement, including the cast of Oppenheimer. As soon as the announcement was made, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr. walked out of their London premiere in support of SAG-AFTRA.
