RAWALPINDI: A local court once again has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and rejected a request to declare the senior politician of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) an absconder.
According to the details, the case was heard by Senior Civil Judge Ghulam Akbar.
During today’s hearing, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) court urged the anti-graft monitoring team to continue their efforts to apprehend the minister and bring him before the court.
Musaddiq Abbasi, the anti-corruption advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, stated that Rana Sanaullah was found guilty in the corruption case against him.
During a press conference at Punjab’s Directorate-General Public Relations(DGPR), Abbasi stated that the interior minister had been accused of accepting bribes in the shape of plots and had been called by ACE in October.
According to the advisor, despite being summoned, Sanaullah did not appear, which is why his team has the “right to arrest the criminal in any position.”
The lawyer emphasized that the crime should be considered regardless of who does it.
“This is not a political case; Sanaullah’s wrongdoing has been confirmed,” Abbasi said, adding that the PML-N minister had registered the plots involved in the case for Rs900,000.
“The housing society was established in 2017, and it was granted approval in 2018. As a bribe, Sanaullah was given two plots in the society,” Abbasi stated, adding that the FIR against the interior minister was launched in 2019, while his letter of acknowledgment was presented in 2022.
