Court reserves judgment on Ramzan Sugar Mills case

LAHORE: An Anti -Corruption Court on Monday reserved judgment on Ramzan Sugar Mills case against Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz.

Lahore’s Anti -Corruption Court heard the Ramadan Sugar Mills case against Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz where Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz argued.

Lawyer Amjad Pervaiz argued that the construction of the drain was not ordered by the then Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif but the construction of the drain was approved by the Punjab cabinet and the drainage was made for the betterment of the area.

The lawyer argued that the case against Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz was settled on political grounds, the drainage is not only for Ramadan sugar mills but also 10 villages using it. This reference was made on the basis of a ridiculous survey.

Later, the court reserved the decision of the case when the lawyer’s arguments were completed, which will be preannounced on February 6.

LHC orders to implement decision on issuance of NOC to Ramzan Sugar Mills

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered to implementation of its decision regarding the issuance of a no objection certificate (NOC) to Ramzan Sugar Mills in two days.

A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petition against the non-issuance of NOC to Ramzan Sugar Mills owned by the Sharif family.

Director General (DG) Excise appeared in court on court orders.

While hearing the petition, Justice Shahid Karim expressed his displeasure at the delayed appearance of DG Excise and said that judges can come in the morning, so why can’t you come.

DG Excise replied that he want to apologize to the court, it will not happen in the future, “to which the court said, “Why you are not following the decision, is it a personal issue.”

Sulman Aslam Butt Advocate appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the petitioner Ramzan Sugar Mills fulfilled all the conditions for obtaining the license.

The petitioner’s lawyer submitted that despite the court order, the license is not being issued on political grounds, requesting that the court issue orders implement the order of NOC issuance, on which Justice Shahid Karim Lahore.
