  • A special pitch has been prepared.
  • Tickets for the game sold out in two days.

QUETTA: Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first against Quetta Gladiators in an exhibition match ahead of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

A total of 16 HD cameras, including a drone, will be placed to offer live cricket entertainment for PTV Sports.

For the exhibition match, however, a special pitch has been prepared.

To help supporters, temporary seats have been erected in the stands.

It should be mentioned that tickets for the game sold out in two days.

According to a security officer, people have been gathering in large numbers in front of Bugti Stadium‘s main gate for the past few days, demanding tickets.

“We are tired of telling them again and again, ‘there are no tickets in the stadium’. They are complaining that they didn’t know where to get tickets from,” he shared.

“We know they are too excited but they need to understand that there is a certain capacity in the stadium. Not everyone can go inside and watch the match. We are having arguments with them for the last couple of days. It’s getting tough for us,” he lamented.

Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi: Wahab Riaz said, Bowlers should be aware of their strengths and weaknesses

Peshawar Zalmi
  • The 37-year-old is also the league’s most-capped player.
  • He has made 77 appearances for Zalmi in all seven seasons.
  • Riaz stated that regular matches can teach crucial lessons.

Wahab Riaz of Peshawar Zalmi believes that a bowler should be conscious of his strengths and flaws, particularly in T20 cricket.

When he sent out Islamabad United batter Danish Aziz last year, he became the only bowler in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to surpass the 100-wicket mark.

The 37-year-old is also the league’s most-capped player, having made 77 appearances for Zalmi in all seven seasons.

Speaking ahead of PSL 8, Riaz stated that regular matches can teach crucial lessons.

“As a bowler, you should be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. You should know how to bowl according to each phase of the innings. The more matches you play and the more experience you gain, you learn important lessons with the exposure,” Riaz told PCB Digital.

“I keep things very simple in T20s. It is necessary you realize that batters will attack and you can go for runs, but you need to trust the process and not forget the basics,” he added.

Riaz gave up 47 runs in four overs on Sunday in Quetta during an exhibition match between the Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar. Iftikhar Ahmed hit him for six sixes in the final over of the innings.

Opening Ceremony

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place on February 13 in Multan, preparatory to the tournament opener between the 2021 winners Multan Sultans and the defending champions Lahore Qalandars; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win back-to-back championships, while Islamabad United will try to become the most successful team by winning the trophy three times.

Rawalpindi will host 11 games, while Karachi and Lahore will each host nine, and Multan will host five.
