Bilal Maqsood’s Playful Jab At India Over Nursery Rhyme Plagiarism

Bilal Maqsood
  • Bilal Maqsood accuses an Indian children’s show of copying his nursery rhyme.
  • Indian producers “borrow” content from many Pakistani artists.
  • Bilal urged them to secure proper copyrights.

Singer and songwriter Bilal Maqsood has accused an Indian children’s show of openly replicating his original nursery rhyme, “Ek Dou Teen Haathi Nikle,” without his prior knowledge or consent.

Once again, Indian producers have demonstrated their reluctance to create original content and their inclination to “borrow” from Pakistani artists.

While it’s understood that Bollywood often uses our songs to promote their films, this time they’ve crossed a new threshold by copying nursery rhymes. Bilal Maqsood expressed his frustration over this blatant plagiarism by sharing a video comparing his original nursery rhyme with the Indian version in a tweet.

The original nursery rhyme, created by Bilal Maqsood, was initially part of an advertising campaign for the Peek Freans brand known as ‘Gluco Kahani,’ designed to encourage Urdu learning for children. On Twitter, Maqsood pointed out the striking resemblances between his original version and the one used in the Indian children’s show.

However, instead of reacting with anger, he calmly addressed the Indian producers, urging them to properly secure copyrights for such content in the future. In his tweet, the former Strings singer stated,

Here is the original version:

This incident adds to a series of prior allegations and controversies where Indian artists or producers have been accused of copying or imitating the work of Pakistani artists without obtaining permission or offering due credit.

From Hadiqa Kiani and Abrar-ul-Haq’s “Nach Punjabaan” to the Coke Studio hit “Pasoori,” India continues to demonstrate a lack of originality in the realm of music.

Ali Sethi’s PSL doors are closed by Najam Sethi’s return to PCB

Najam Sethi's
  • Najam Sethi’s appointment has shut the doors of the PCB on his son Ali Sethi.
  • He won’t be part of the upcoming edition of the country’s flagship tournament PSL.
  • The change of PSL faces has dimmed the crooner’s prospects.

Ramiz Raja left the Pakistan Cricket Board, while a prominent journalist and former interim chief minister Najam Sethi returned. Ali Sethi won’t play in the forthcoming season of the PSL, the nation’s premier sporting event, as a result of his appointment to the PCB.

The PSL 8, Pakistan’s largest cricket tournament, is scheduled to take place next month. The PCB was considering Ali Sethi for the PSL 8 blasting anthem. Despite the fact that the Pasoori crooner’s smash song topped Google’s hum-to-search category last year, the PSL faces change that has hampered his possibilities.

Before Najam Sethi, Ali Sethi’s father was appointed as the new head of the cricket board, the Pakistan Super League’s previous iterations included original ideas and catchy tunes from the nation’s greatest musicians.

As the former management of PCB was in contact with the singing phenomenon for the PSL cover, it was even claimed that Ali flew from the US to Lahore. Najam Sethi, however, made the decision not to include Ali.

According to reports in the local media, Najam Sethi chose against selecting his son in order to avoid criticism since his appointment was already clouded by claims that he accepted a sizable salary as the head of the cricket body.

Despite this, the two parties are keeping quiet about the development because no official announcement was released.

Fans, however, are excitedly anticipating this year’s event, which will begin on February 13 in Karachi.

Pasoori becomes the most Googled global song in 2022

Pasoori

Pasoori beats BTS song Butter, Srivalli, and Chaand Baaliyan and becomes the most Googled song in the world in 2022. The greatest developments in search on the well-known search engine over the previous 11+ months are summarized in Google’s “Year in Search 2022.” Google has compiled a list of the top 10 searches in a variety of categories, including persons, movies, current events, and much more.

In the category of the best songs, subcontinental melodies have triumphed over international blockbusters. Pasoori, a song by Pakistani singer Ali Sethi, has gone viral and surpassed BTS’ Butter as the most-Googled song this year. Additionally, two songs from India are among the top 10.

Pasoori, sung by Ali and Shae Gill, was made public earlier this year during the 14th season of Coke Studio. The song became a trending audio on social media sites like TikTok and Instagram, which inspired countless covers all around the world. The band’s Butter wasn’t able to top the song, despite BTS’ enormous global appeal. Another single from BTS, titled Dynamite, is within the top 10. The only other band with more than one entry on the list is Imagine Dragons, whose songs Enemy and Believer are now ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.

In the top 10, two songs from India were included. Number 3 on the list is Aditya A’s Chaand Baaliyan, which dethroned a number of international songs and was a viral hit similar to Pasoori. The Telugu hit from last year, Srivalli, from Pushpa: The Rise, completed the top ten at position 10. The fact that Javed Ali is identified in the Google statistics as the vocalist of Srivalli suggests that the Hindi version of the song is the one that has achieved this position. Sid Sriram sang the song’s original Telugu lyrics. Devi Sri Prasad is the composer of the song.

A few more unexpected songs on the list are Backstreet Boys’ 1997 mega hit Everybody, which has made it to number 9 25 years after its release, and French singer Indila’s 2014 song Ainsi bas la vida, which is at number 8.
