“My Country Considers Pakistan as a brotherly and reliable partner”: Tajik President

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan, has said that his country considers Pakistan as a brotherly and reliable partner.

While addressing the gathering at a banquet hosted by President Dr Arif Alvi in his honour at Presidency in Islamabad, the Tajik President said that his country wants to promote land linkages with Pakistan for regional development and prosperity.

“This visit will give a new impetus to relations between the two countries,” he said.

He said that agreements signed with Pakistan will take the relationship to new heights. Also, he invited Dr Arif Alvi to visit Tajikistan.

On the other hand, addressing the event, President Dr. Arif Alvi said the relationship between both countries is getting better and stronger day by day.

“Pakistan will provide access to Central Asian states to trade with the world through its ports,” Ali added.

The President said bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment and people to people contact will be further enhanced.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, Prime Minister Imran Khan and President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon held a joint press conference in Islamabad.

During his address, Prime Minister Imran Khan underlined the need for peace in Afghanistan for trade between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

He said, “Chaos in Afghanistan will ultimately increase the menace of terrorism.”

“Trade between both the countries will become easier through Gwadar,” the premier said adding, “Peace in Afghanistan imperative for the Pak-Tajik trade.”

Whereas, while expressing his views, the Tajik President thanked Prime Minister Khan for extending an invitation to visit Islamabad.

He said MoUs have been signed between both the countries and vowed to further solidify bilateral ties between the two countries.

The visiting dignitary also embraced Pakistan’s efforts for enduring peace and stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Wednesday held delegation-level talks with his Tajik counterpart Sirodjiddin Muhriddin.

During the meeting, both Qureshi and the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan reviewed bilateral cooperation in diverse fields including regional connectivity and mutual collaboration at regional and global fora.

In his tweet, Qureshi said, “Great to welcome Tajikistan FM Sirojiddin Muhriddin to the Foreign Office and to follow up on our discussions in Dushanbe on strengthening all bilateral ties across economic, political, defence and education spheres. Pleased to have signed a cooperation programme with FM Muhriddin.”

“Pakistan, Tajikistan desire a peaceful solution to Afghan conflict”: PM Imran

Prime Minister Imran Khan and President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon held a joint press conference in Islamabad here on Wednesday (today).

During his address, Prime Minister Imran Khan underlined the need for peace in Afghanistan for trade between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

He said, “Chaos in Afghanistan will ultimately increase the menace of terrorism.”

“Trade between both the countries will become easier through Gwadar,” the premier said adding, “Peace in Afghanistan imperative for the Pak-Tajik trade.”

He further added that both Pakistan and Tajikistan desire a peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict.

Prime Minister Khan restated his resolve not to start trade activities with India until the restoration of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s sovereign status.

On the occasion, while expressing his views, the Tajik President thanked Prime Minister Khan for extending an invitation to visit Islamabad.

He said MoUs have been signed between both the countries and vowed to further solidify bilateral ties between the two countries.

The visiting dignitary also embraced Pakistan’s efforts for enduring peace and stability in the region.

Prior to the joint press conference, a number of Agreements and MOUs between Pakistan and Tajikistan signed today in the areas of Education, Trade & Commerce, Anti-Corruption, Prevention of Emergency Situation, Art & Culture and Connectivity.

FM Qureshi, Tajik President Vow To Further Solidify Bilateral Ties

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomes the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Pakistan on his two-day official visit.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi has also thanked President Rahmon for co-hosting the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process Conference.

Both the leaders shared a commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister said timely completion of important projects like CASA-1000 will help establish an energy corridor between South Asia and Central Asia.

He also notified the Tajik President about Pakistan’s reconciliatory efforts and its fruits in Afghanistan. “Pakistan will continue its efforts for regional peace and stability,” Qureshi said.

However, the Tajik President thanked the Foreign Minister and the Pakistani leadership for the warm welcome.

Note that, Emomali Rahmon has arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit today (Wednesday) at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiyar received the Tajik President at Nur Khan Airbase.

During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Rahmon will lead their respective sides in the delegation-level talks.

The two sides will exchange views on deepening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas including political, economic, trade, investment, energy, security and defence, culture, education and regional connectivity.

A number of agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit. The visiting dignitary will separately hold a meeting with President Dr. Arif Alvi.

Moreover, the two sides are expected to sign a number of Agreements and MoUs during the visit. The visiting dignitary will separately meet with President Dr. Arif Alvi.

Note that President Emomali Rahmon has visited Pakistan seven times since 1994.
