PESHAWAR: Mubarak Zeb Khan, an independent candidate, has won the by-election of the NA-8 Bajaur National Assembly seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by defeating the Sunni Ittihad Council candidate backed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf.
According to the incomplete and unofficial results of all 366 polling stations in the NA-8 Bajaur by-election, the independent candidate Mubarak Zeb has been declared successful by getting 74,008 votes, while the candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Gul Zafar Khan got 47,282 votes.
On the other hand, the victory of independent candidate Mubarak Zeb is being declared as his victory by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI).
It should be noted that PTI had nominated Gul Zafar Khan as its candidate against Mubarak Zeib, the brother of slain party worker Rehan Zeb, in the by-election in Bajaur.
Being disappointed after not getting a ticket from PTI, Mubarak Zeb also made a statement against PTI leadership including CM Ali Amin Gandapur.
It should be remembered that during the general elections held in February 8 this year, Rehan Zeb, an independent candidate from National Assembly Constituency NA Bajaur 8, was shot dead by unknown persons.
