Kashmir Solidarity Day 2021

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed on Friday, February 05 to express whole-hearted support from around the globe to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under UN resolutions.

On Kashmir Solidarity Day, Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan will address a public gathering at Kotli in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri brethren.

The day will also be marked to expose worst ever oppression perpetrated by India against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

One minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am across the country.

Solidarity walks will be arranged in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and four provincial headquarters.

Kashmir Solidarity Day In 1990

The first Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in 1990.

This day marks the commemoration of the sacrifices that the people of Kashmir have made for freedom and the suffering they have endured since 1950s.

In the light of recent events, Kashmir Day is more relevant, significant and forceful than ever before. Times are changing and the world is waking up to the cause of Kashmir.

Without prejudice to the pain inflicted upon Kashmiri people by the Government of India stands verified and proved before International law and statutes of liberty, freedom and human rights.

5th February, 2020 represents, perhaps the most resolute and potent show of solidarity of Pakistanis and people in Azad Kashmir with their brethren trapped in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Shahid Afridi praises Kashmiri brothers for their perseverance, valor

Pakistan’s former cricket captain Shahid Afridi has penned an emotional note ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day 2021, set to take place tomorrow (Friday).

Taking to his Twitter handle, Shahid Afridi praised the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) for their bravery.

“We must take inspiration from the valour and perseverance observed by the people of Kashmir who were subjected to brutality in the fight for their homeland,” the former skipper wrote.

“I stand united with our brothers and sisters in support of their journey to freedom on #KashmirSolidarityDay.”

Earlier in 2019, Afridi had enthusiastically supported the idea when Prime Minister Imran Khan called on all Pakistanis to take part in ‘Kashmir Hour’ to show solidarity.

“Let’s respond to PM’s call for Kashmir Hour as a nation. I will be at Mazar e Quaid at 12 pm on Friday. Join me to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren. On 6 Sep, I will visit home of a Shaheed. I will soon be visiting LOC,” he had written.

All banks and financial institutions will remain closed on Friday, February 05, announces SBP.

According to the notification issued by the Sindh government, February 5 will be observed as a public holiday across the province.

It may be recalled that Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed on February 5 every year on which an attempt is made to convey the message to the world that the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are demanding their right to self-determination is their fundamental right which is enshrined in the United Nations and also recognized in the charter.

Why Kashmir Solidarity Day Is Observed On Feb 5?

Pakistan observes Kashmir solidarity day on February 5, of every year, it was initially observed in 1991.

Pakistan and people of Kashmir observed the day collectively across the globe and it is considered as the largest activity against the Indian suppression in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

On this occasion, people of Pakistan and Kashmir, wherever they are living in the world especially in the United Kingdom – as people of Mirpur, Kashmir lives there in sufficient numbers.

People start their day with special prayers in mosques for the freedom of Kashmir, organize large scale rallies, seminars and debate competitions.

People also register their protest at the United Nations and in front of Indian embassies worldwide.
