Karachi likely to receive rainfall on July 24, 25 But Not On Eid, says Met Department

Karachi can likely receive light rainfall on July 24 and 25, but not on the Eid day, confirmed a Met official here on Monday.

Director Met Sardar Sarfaraz has forecast rainfall in Punjab and upper areas of Pakistan. He has predicted rainfall with thunderstorms in Kashmir on Eid.

The weather remains mostly cloudy and windy with intermittent drizzle and chances of light rain in Karachi and adjoining coastal areas today.

The weather spell with intermittent drizzle and light rain could continue for few days in the city, the Met office said.

Rain with wind and thundershower is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Potohar region, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan from Sunday evening or night to Wednesday, Pakistan Meteorological Department said.

Sindh’s Larkana, Sukkur, Jaccobabad, Tharparker, Sanghar, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas districts, southern Punjab’s Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Balochistan’s Sibbi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Kohlu, Loralai, Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Quetta, Ziarat, Harnai, Qila Saifullah and Qila Abdullah districts will likely to receive rainfall from Monday evening to Thursday, according to the weather forecast.

Earlier, Karachi Traffic Police in a statement had warned the citizens travelling on vehicles to take all precautionary measures and directed them to contact the helpline 1915 (021-99216356-58) in case of emergency.

He said that traffic was slow due to the accumulation of rainwater in Awami Markaz, Karsaz, Nursery, Baloch Colony and Mahmoodabad and at the airport.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall of 42 mm was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadid, followed by 34.6 mm in Nazimabad, 34 mm in PAF Faisal Base and 33 mm in PAF Base Masroor The rainfall was 27 mm in Surjani, 24.4 mm in Airport Old Area, 16 mm in Landhi, 15.8 mm in Jinnah Terminal and 11.2 mm in Saadi Town.
