On Saturday, a major accident occurred on the set of Mere Husband Ki Biwi, starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, when the ceiling of the Mumbai studio collapsed. Several people, including Arjun, producer Jackky Bhagnani, director Mudassar Aziz, and crew members, sustained injuries.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president BN Tiwari assured that there were “no major injuries.” He stated, “Kuch bhi ho sakta tha, par shukr hai kisi ko kuch zyada laga nahi,” and confirmed that shooting had been halted at the location for safety reasons.
Tiwari highlighted concerns over the maintenance of film studios, pointing out that they are outdated and in urgent need of structural audits. “We have sent a letter to the Prime Minister in Delhi as well as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra over the health and safety of workers in the industry,” he revealed.
He stressed the need for government intervention, warning that if no action is taken, productions might shift out of Mumbai. “The maximum we can do is withdraw our workers from the shoots. Maybe that will make them think about it more seriously,” he concluded.
