Iranian president suffers minor injuries in last month conflict

Iranian president suffers minor injuries in last month conflict

Tehran: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian sustained minor injuries in an Israeli air strike targeting a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council in Tehran on June 15.

A senior Iranian official confirmed the attack, describing it as an attempt to eliminate the top leadership of the government.

The official, speaking anonymously to international media, stated, “This attempt will not pass without Israel paying a price,” emphasizing Iran’s resolve to respond to what they labeled as an assassination attempt on its leadership.

The assault occurred shortly before noon, during a session attended by the heads of Iran’s three branches of government—executive, legislative, and judicial—as well as other senior officials. The strike targeted a government facility in western Tehran, where six missiles hit entrances and exits, cutting off escape routes and causing explosions that severed electricity supply.

According to the reports of foreign news, the building’s security measures allowed officials, including President Pezeshkian, to evacuate via a pre-arranged emergency hatch. The president sustained minor leg injuries during the evacuation.

Fars also noted that Iran is investigating whether Israeli spies aided in the attack, given the sophistication and precision of the strikes.
