All passport related issues to be resolved by September

ISLAMABAD:  Director General (DG) Passport and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi said that all passport related issues will be resolved by September.

While briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, DG Passport said that there were complaints of delay in passport printing because the machinery was inactive, approval has been given to get e-passport machinery, 6 new printers will also inducted for passport printing.

DG Passport said that the delay in the passport printing process will be controlled and all passport related issues will be resolved in September.

DG Passport said that additional counters have been set up in passport offices while the passport system was 20 years old  and there were 20 old printers out of which 13 were working. The issue of lamination papers was due to dollar which has been resolved.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi took notice of the delay in providing passports to overseas Pakistanis and directed them to ensure the issuance of passports within the stipulated period.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited passport and NADRA centers in London and asked the problems of the overseas Pakistanis present in the centers.

Senator Mohsin Naqvi ordered to issue urgent passports for overseas Pakistanis in 7 days and normal passports in 30 days.
