Pak Navy Day: Chief of Naval Staff accolades the vigilant heroes

Today on September 8, Pak Navy Day is being observed to acknowledge the sacrifices and spirit of our Naval heroes who epitomized grit, courage and valour during the 1965 War.

On the eve of Pak Navy Day, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi says Pakistan Navy is fully capable and vigilantly guarding country’s maritime interests.

In his message, he said today Pakistan Navy is recognized as a potent naval force in the region and a key partner in international navies’ collaborative maritime security initiatives.

Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said Pak Navy has also launched its own initiative of Regional Maritime Security Patrols to provide secure maritime environment for the good of global commons.

He said as we commemorate the spirit of Navy Day, all ranks of Pakistan Navy reiterate solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and denounce the blatant annexation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris’ just struggle till the resolution of Kashmir issue, Naval Chief added.

He said with the realization of CPEC Project, Pakistan Navy is alive to its growing responsibilities and role in its success and security of lynchpin Gwadar Port.

The Naval Chief said Pakistan Navy in collaboration with China Geological Survey is engaged in mapping and exploration of offshore hydrocarbon resources.

‘Pakistan’s valiant armed forces are well versed in protecting our borders’: Air Chief

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan says Pakistan’s valiant armed forces are well versed in protecting our borders and people and are fully capable of defeating the enemy.

The Air Chief was addressing the Martyrs’ Day ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday on the occasion of Air Force Day.

The Air Chief said today, we salute our martyrs and veterans for their determination, courage, and spirit of sacrifice and renew our pledge that we will never allow any harm to our sacred homeland.

Highlighting the current situation in Kashmir, the Air Chief said we also express our solidarity with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters who have been fighting against oppression and tyranny for seven decades.

Air Chief Mujahid Anwar laid a floral wreath to pay homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs’ Monument and offered “Fateha”.

Earlier in the day, a wreath-laying ceremony was also held at the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, (Nishan-i-Haider) at Karachi.

Air Vice-Marshal Ghulam Abbas Ghumman, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command, offered  ‘Fateha’ and laid floral wreath at the grave of the Shaheed on behalf of Chief of the Air Staff.

Similar wreath-laying ceremonies were also held at the graves of PAF Martyrs’ all over the country.

However, the day belonged to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam known as M.M.Alam who shot down five of the Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk. 56 fighters in less than a minute.

He destroyed the first four Indian fighter jets in the first 30 seconds while the fifth became his victim within the next 30 seconds.

He is one of the few aviators who made a world record in shooting most jets in the shortest time and not only won international acclaim but also was deservedly bestowed with Sitara e Jurrat (SJ) for his dexterity and eagle eyes action.
