Gaspard Ulliel gives perfect sexy european bad guy energy in ‘Moon Knight’ Episode 3

Gaspard Thomas Ulliel was a French actor who appeared in a number of films. He was most known for playing juvenile Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising, fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic Saint Laurent, and for twelve years as the face of Chanel’s men’s fragrance Bleu de Chanel.

Moon Knight Episode 3 follows our heroes Marc/Steven (Oscar Isaac) and Layla (May Calamawy) as they race to find Ammit’s tomb before her acolyte Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), but it’s best known for introducing French actor Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Mogart, aka Midnight Man. About halfway through the program, Layla and Marc pay a visit to the European playboy and quickly confront him.

It’s a brief cameo for Gaspard Ulliel, who unfortunately died in a skiing accident in January at the age of 37. The bright lining is Ulliel’s performance in the Marvel part, which makes Midnight Man the ideal smarmy, gorgeous European bad villain for Moon Knight.

Moon Knight is the MCU’s newest live-action original series, and the first to explore the universe of Egyptian gods, for Disney+’s streaming service. Steven Grant is a mild-mannered museum gift shop employee who yearns for a normal existence. While Steven feels he has sleepwalking disorder, he actually has DID, or dissociative identity disorder.

Marc Spector, his alter persona, is a mercenary-turned-superhero who works for the Egyptian god Khonshu (voiced by F. Murray Abraham). Steven is thrown into a globe-trotting journey in which he must battle gods, assassins, and himself.

Marc/Steven and Layla try to outrun their opponents in Moon Knight Episode 3, who aim to restore the vengeful goddess Ammit to her previous destructive glory. Layla learns that an old Madripoor peer is in Egypt and has a sarcophagus that can help them. Anton Mogart enters the picture.

Anton Mogart is a New Jersey-based art and jewel thief who runs afoul of Moon Knight in the Marvel comics. Mogart is presumed dead after the two fight. He makes it out alive, but vows vengeance on Moon Knight. Marc appears to kill Mogart in Disney+’s Moon Knight, which sets up this plot line in a unique way. (However, did he? Was he telling the truth when he stated that?

Since Ulliel’s unexpected demise, it’s likely that any plans to introduce Midnight Man as a future villain in the MCU have been shelved. That’s really bad, because Ulliel is a lot of fun for the few minutes he’s onscreen! He’s an international playboy rather than a mustache-twirling Jersey boy. He wears a red robe and rides his horses shirtless.

Mogart informs Layla that he collects Egyptian antiquities to preserve culture, oblivious to the fact that he comes out as a creepy white imperialist by stating so (to the Egyptian daughter of an archaeologist). Gaspard Ulliel, on the other hand, has the kind of elegant European charisma to pull it off.
