Saudi FM visit to help bring investment in Pakistan: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet said that billions of dollars’ worth of investment was expected as a result of the recent visit by the Saudi delegation.

Commending the efforts of the federal cabinet and relevant authorities for the successful visit, he said the Saudi delegation was impressed by the preparations of Pakistani ministers and officials.

He also thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his special interest in Pakistan, which led to a successful visit by the Saudi delegation. “We must ensure the completion of this investment in Pakistan with the same spirit and dedication,” the prime minister added.

He warned that no obstacles or hindrances in this regard will be allowed. He also reiterated his commitment to working day and night for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, as promised to the people. “If we continue to work hard, we will soon achieve Pakistan’s development, prosperity, and economic stability.”

Meanwhile, the prime minister also extended Eid greetings to the participants and prayed for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity due to the blessings of Ramazan.

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, wherein the two sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations focused on mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

Led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the high-powered Saudi delegation arrived here Monday on a two-day visit essentially to expedite follow-up on the understanding reached between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman during their recent meeting in Makkah Al Mukarramah to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

During the meeting, the prime minister expressed his deep appreciation for the Saudi leadership and conveyed his sincerest wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored the significance accorded by Pakistan to its longstanding fraternal, economic and strategic relations with Saudi Arabia and said that both countries had always stood together at all times. He informed the delegation about the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and its initiatives to promote investment in Pakistan. He also highlighted the key role of Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and the cooperation of all institutions for the promotion of investment in the country through SIFC.

The Saudi foreign minister expressed gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to his delegation and highlighted that Saudi Arabia attached high importance to its strong and close ties with Pakistan.

DAVOS: Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah called on Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on the sidelines of 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The prime minister underlined the strategic importance of close brotherly relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, rooted in common cultural heritage and shared interests.

The two sides also reviewed regional developments. Prime Minister Kakar noted that close brotherly relations between the two countries were a factor of regional stability.

He said Pakistan desires to deepen bilateral engagement including through trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.

The prime minister appreciated the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and underlined the highest esteem the people of Pakistan held for the leadership and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, they reviewed the strong Saudi-Pakistani relations and ways to support and enhance them to serve common interests, in addition to discussing the most important issues raised at the Munich Security Conference 2023. 

The two Ministers also discussed the importance of strengthening multilateral action to achieve international peace and security. The meeting was attended by the Director-General of the Office of His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.
