PMDC to decide fee structure of private medical institutions

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) is set to deliberate on the standardization of tuition fees for private medical and dental colleges in its upcoming Council meeting.

This decision comes in response to growing public concerns regarding the affordability and accessibility of medical and dental education in Pakistan.

The PMDC has taken a proactive approach to address these concerns by implementing a structured fee schedule to ensure transparency and fairness in the education sector.

The council aims to prevent excessive tuition charges while maintaining high educational standards in private institutions across the country. PMDC is committed to ensuring that quality medical and dental education remains accessible to aspiring students.

The regulation of fees is a crucial step in maintaining a balance between affordability and sustainability in private medical education.”

In a statement issued by the PMDC it was apprised that an emergent Council meeting has been called which will include discussions with stakeholders, including representatives from private medical and dental colleges, education experts, and government officials, to finalize a fair and standardized fee policy.

The PMDC remains dedicated to promoting equitable access to medical education while upholding academic excellence.

UHS releases merit list of medical and dental collages

LAHORE: University of Health Sciences(UHS) Lahore has released the final merit list for admission in the government medical and dental colleges of Punjab.

According to the UHS spokesperson, UHS  Lahore released the merit list on its website which consists of 4,485 candidates.

The spokesperson said that the UHS had released the interim merit list on December 8, the candidates were given 48 hours to file objection on the list, after which the candidates filed their objections through the online portal.

According to the spokesperson, 1159 objections were filed within 48 hours, after reviewing all the objections, the final merit list was issued, 3,389 candidates will be admitted on open merit and quota seats.

The spokesperson also said that the first selection list for allotting government medical colleges will be displayed on December 15.

PMDC to conduct entry test for medical, dental colleges on Sep 10

KARACHI: The entry test for medical and dental colleges will be held on September 10 across the country under the uniform policy of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council(PMDC) .

Earlier, the entry test was scheduled to be held on August 23,2023.

Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2023 will be held under uniform syllabus policy across the country.

According to the sources, in the meeting of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, there was a consultation regarding the entry test across the country.

During the meeting, some members suggested to extend the admission test date by two weeks, which was not approved initially, but considering the conditions of the country and the members recommendations.

It has been decided to conduct the medical and dental entry test across the country on September 10 under the uniform policy.
