Two Gorillas At San Diego Zoo Contracted COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has affected every country around the world and the United States of America is one of the most affected countries affected by the novel virus.

There is no one safe from the deadly virus neither humans nor animals.

According to the details, two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo have been tested COVID-19 positive.

The US publication reported that apart from two affected gorillas, another gorilla has shown symptoms of the deadly virus causing an alarming situation in the country.

“Our beloved gorillas, obviously, we are concerned about,” said Governor California Gavin Newsome.

“The gorillas live as a family, so it is assumed that all members have been exposed,” zoo officials told an international news publication.

As per the details, the gorillas were showing symptoms from last week after which their COVID-19 test was conducted.

The test was carried out by the US Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Services Laboratory confirmed that the gorillas were indeed positive on Monday.

“It is unknown whether the gorillas will have any serious reaction but they are being closely monitored,” said the zoo authorities.

Earlier in April 2020, seven tigers contacted the novel virus at New York’s Bronx Zoo.

Wildlife Conservation Society announced that after the tiger tested positive in April 2020, seven more big cats have coronavirus at New York’s Bronx Zoo.

The nonprofit zoo said three tigers and three African lions began showing symptoms in early April when the zoo announced a 4-year-old Malayan tiger named Nadia tested positive.
