AJK Elections 2021: PML-N Workers Standing Firmly To expose Vote Thieves, Maryam

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has on Sunday said that her party workers are standing firmly and exposing the “vote thieves” during AJK Elections 2021 happening today.

“PML-N workers are standing firm and exposing vote thieves,” said Maryam in her tweet. She added that Nawaz Sharif’s slogan of “vote ko izzat do”, respect the votehas given her party “active activists”.

AJK Elections 2021 Polling 

The residents of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) have gone to the polls today to elect new members of the region’s Legislative Assembly.

AJK has a total of 32,50,117 registered voters, including 17,8,800 male and 14,68,317 female.

There are 33 electoral constituencies in the ten districts of AJK. While 12 constituencies are kept for Pakistan-based Jammu & Kashmir refugees. Polling stands in all the provinces have been set up for the refugees.

A total of 691 candidates, including 381 belonging to a total of 32 registered political parties and a total of 310 independent candidates, are in the run to win the election for 45 seats.

In Azad Kashmir, 587 candidates are contesting in 33 constituencies while 121 candidates are contesting in 12 constituencies.

A total of 24 women candidates are contesting the elections. PML-N and PTI fielded two women candidates each while the Muslim Conference fielded one woman.

A total of about 43,500 personnel of Azad Kashmir Police, Civil Armed Forces and Army from other provinces will be deployed to maintain law and order in Azad Kashmir elections while the deployment of the Army will be under Quick Reaction Force.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur was summoned for alleged violation of orders of Chief Election Commissioner Azad Kashmir.

A contempt of court petition was filed in the Election Commission of Azad Kashmir against Ali Amin Gandapur and others for violating the rules and regulations issued by Chief Election Commissioner Abdul Rashid Suhlaria regarding the Azad Kashmir elections.

Chief Election Commissioner Azad Kashmir Abdul Rashid Suhlaria has said that action is being taken against PTI leader and Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur for violating the code of conduct.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Abdul Rashid Sulehria has on Sunday said best systems have been put in place to assure fair and transparent elections.

Speaking to media officials today, the AJK CEC said that the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has provided every kind of support for arranging the polls.

He urged the people of Kashmir to use their right to vote. Rashid hoped that turnout to remain more than 56 per cent in today’s elections.

He said the polling staff is fully implementing the election code of conduct and the voters are cooperating with the officials.

Replying to a question he said the team of the Election Commission has been constituted which will visit various polling stations and inspect the polling process.

To another question, he said the voter turnout in today’s elections will be over fifty percent.

“We have the powers and will continue to exercise them,” the AJK CEC further said.
