15 Years of ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’: Minissha Lamba Shares Her Film Experience

Celebrating 15 years since the release of “Bachna Ae Haseeno,” Minissha Lamba takes a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reminiscing about her time working on the film and her chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor. The movie holds a special place in Minissha Lamba’s heart as she describes it as a pivotal moment in her career.

Lamba, who portrayed the character Mahi in the film, recollects her involvement in the Siddharth Anand-directed project when she received the offer. However, she unveils an intriguing detail – she only received her portion of the script. She discloses, “I was unaware of the other characters’ storylines. I broadly knew what the story was, but I only received my script. So, the details, individual scenes, songs, and everything else, I saw for the first time on screen when in the show kept for the cast and crew. The story was unfolding just like the audience for me.” As one of the three women that Ranbir Kapoor’s character falls in love with in the film, Lamba’s on-screen rapport with Kapoor is described as “seamless and effortless.” Reflecting on their dynamic, she reveals, “When we were shooting, Ranbir was very shy and kept to himself at that point. We didn’t interact that much, but the moment the camera turned on, there was a different kind of ease and chemistry. In fact, we required minimal takes, and our shots would be done in maximum third take.”

The film, which also featured Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu, was extensively shot in various locations including Switzerland, Mumbai, and Sydney. Lamba’s character journey unfolds in Switzerland and later shifts to Amritsar. Among the numerous memories from filming, Lamba emphasizes the significance of the scenes shot in Switzerland.

Minissha Lamba reflects, “Showing Mahi as a young girl, going on a holiday, that too abroad, finding the love of her life… it was all how it exactly happens in movies. It was so much fun, especially the adventures that made us experience new thrills like riding a roller coaster on a glacier and playfully indulging in stealing chocolates from a store in a carefree manner for the scene.”

The character development posed a challenge for Lamba, as her role transitioned from a carefree young girl in the first half to a married woman and mother of two in the latter part. She admits, “More than the young Mahi, the other part of being in a marriage where there was no heart and affection, was difficult to play because I had nothing to draw on. Yet, there had to be a distinct difference between the girl she was and the woman she became.” It’s worth noting that Lamba made her digital debut earlier this year with the short film “Badtameez Dil.”

The 44-year-old actress revealed that her daughter Devi had to undergo a challenging six-hour operation for ventricular septal defect (VSD) shortly after birth. Devi was conceived through IVF, and just three days after delivery, Basu received the heartbreaking news about the two holes in her daughter’s heart.

Basu described the initial days as extremely difficult, revealing that she spent the first 40 days and nights without a moment’s sleep. It took her nearly 40 days to come to terms with the situation, accept it, and understand the gravity of her daughter’s medical condition.

Adding to the already challenging situation, Basu’s husband, Karan Singh Grover, was away from the city due to a film shoot, leaving her feeling lonely and isolated. Even though Grover attempted to return, his work commitments hindered him from being there for 15 crucial days.

Ameesha Patel, who is eagerly awaiting the release of her upcoming film Gadar 2, has finally addressed a controversial remark made by Bipasha Basu years ago. During an episode of Koffee With Karan, Ameesha had commented on Bipasha’s hips following the release of her film Jism, co-starring John Abraham. Ameesha stated that she wouldn’t have done a film like Jism as it would have displeased her grandmother. In response, when Bipasha appeared on the show with Lara Dutta, she commented on Ameesha’s suitability for a film like Jism, remarking on her body.

In 2005, Bipasha and Lara appeared as guests on Karan Johar’s show and discussed Ameesha’s “physical attributes.” Bipasha, who had recently become a mother, candidly stated, “I would say first of all, Ameesha doesn’t have the physical attributes to carry a role like Jism. It is a very honest statement; I would not cast her to carry a Jism. You need to be a woman, like a total package, not just bodily, but you have to have a very strong personality. I think she is too petite, too small to do that. Her whole frame is wrong.”

Recently, Ameesha Patel revealed her response to Bipasha Basu’s comment during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. The Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actress affirmed, “I still stand by what I said. I don’t think Basic Instinct is a bad film. Sharon Stone is a goddess. Jism was a fantastic film with great music and performances. All I am saying is, why Bipasha? I am not comfortable being a Sharon Stone. I think it takes guts to be there, to be bold physically. I can be called sexy and hot, but am I that comfortable with that amount of boldness and skin shown on screen? I am not.”

During the same interview, Ameesha Patel recalled an incident where she refused to wear a bikini in the song “Lazy Lamhe” from the film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. She shared, “For ‘Lazy Lamhe,’ I was the first Yash Raj heroine who had the courage to tell Adi (Aditya Chopra) that I would not wear a bikini. Hence, the hot pants with the bikini top. I told the top producer in the country that I would not be comfortable and was willing to walk out of the film. My comment was not directed in a negative manner towards Bipasha because I think she was amazing.”

Paresh Rawal reconnected with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty earlier this week for a special announcement trailer for Hera Pheri 3. After being stalled for a while, the comedy franchise’s third movie is now finally in production. The movie’s filming will start in three months, according to the actor who will return as Babu Bhaiyya. The protagonists from the movie will travel to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Los Angeles this year. Hera Pheri 3 will be directed by Farhad Samji.

Kartik Aaryan, who was slated to join the franchise, won’t be appearing in the movie, the actor further informed. In 2000, Paresh, Akshay Kumar, and Suniel debuted as Babu, Raju, and Shyam, respectively. The Hindi film, which was directed by Priyadarshan, was a remake of the Malayalam movie Ramji Rao Speaking (1989). The original cast also included Tabu and Om Puri; a follow-up, Phir Hera Pheri, written and directed by Neeraj Vora, was released in 2006.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Paresh said of meeting Akshay and Suniel Shetty, “Meeting them was like ghar wapsi” (returning home). Shooting with Akshay and Suniel is always enjoyable. They are brilliant actors who are confident in their abilities. We respect each other. Our on-screen chemistry is a reflection of our friendship off-screen.

We’ll start shooting in three months, he continued. Mumbai will have a [full] schedule. While Babu bhaiyya, Raju, and Shyam travel internationally, the movie will also be filmed in foreign cities such Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Los Angeles. They’ll perform hera pheri everywhere. The seasoned actor continued, “At first, both Kartik and Akshay were to make the film, but it didn’t work out. I don’t know what happened.”

For his performance as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the 2001 film Hera Pheri, Paresh received the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role. For the second film, actors Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Rimi Sen, and Bipasha Basu joined the cast.

The third movie was also going to be directed by Neeraj, but he passed away in 2017. Since then, the movie’s production has delayed while its creators look for a director who would be a good fit for the brand.

Bipasha Basu shares first picture of her new born daughter

Devi is seen with Bipasha and her actor spouse Karan Singh Grover in the picture. The couple’s cheeks were beaming as they couldn’t take their eyes off of their infant. The photo was taken from a balcony.

Bipasha captioned, “Our recipe for making a sweet baby angel 1) Quarter cup of you 2) Quarter cup of me 3) Half cup of Ma’s blessings and love 4) Topped up with magic & awesomeness 5) 3 drops of rainbow essence, angel dust, unicorn sparkles and all things divine.

Devi is the first kid that Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha have together. The couple got hitched the next year after meeting on the Alone set in 2015. Bipasha and Karan revealed they were expecting a child in August of this year after several years of marriage. They made their maternity session photographs public.

On social media, they shared their daughter’s name and the news of her birth in November. Bipasha shared a picture of Devi’s feet along with the date of the baby’s birth, 12.11.2022, and her name, Devi Basu Singh Grover. She wrote in part, “The physical manifestation of our love and blessings of Ma is here now and she is divine,”

Bipasha and her child were released from the hospital where they had been admitted on November 15. The infant was wrapped in a baby blanket to keep her face hidden from the camera while the pair smiled for the cameras.

As Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt reached a Mumbai hospital to welcome their baby. At the same time, Bipasha Basu, who is also expecting, posted a picture of her baby bump on Instagram Stories. The actress from Raaz is expecting her first child with her husband Karan Singh Grover.

Bipasha is shown in the picture lying on her bed in a denim outfit with no straps. Karan can be seen lying next to her and putting his hand on her bump. Bipasha wrote “My world” as the caption for the photo of her hand on Karan’s cheek.

On April 30, 2016, Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha got married. On the set of their 2015 movie, Alone, they fell in love. Bipasha said a week ago that she is on bed rest right now. The actor had posted a photo of herself in bed with the caption, “Bedrest ain’t fun when you have so much work to do before Baby arrives. Telling myself to just chill..just chill.”
