Bismillah Khan tested positive for COVID-19

Bismillah Khan, who played for Balochistan in National T20 Cup, has been tested positive for coronavirus in Karachi.

According to the details, the Balochistan wicket-keeper showed COVID-19 symptoms during a match against Southern Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy second round. The details further revealed that Bismillah was not tested till the final day. Now, he has been replaced by Adnan Akmal on the field.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, did not reveal any name of the player but said that after an individual tested positive, all 132 players, players support personnel, and match officials taking part in the competition underwent tests and cleared as negative.

“The individual was shifted to a dedicated isolation room within the team hotel and the PCB-appointed doctors are monitoring his progress,” PCB.

“The PCB understands domestic cricket is being played under difficult circumstances and fully appreciates the support of all involved, it is also appropriate that we remind all involved to religiously follow the PCB Covid-19 Protocols, which will guarantee their health and safety as well as all those around them,” PCB Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan said.

PCB to extend Wasim Khan’s contract next year

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is having thoughts to extend Wasim Khan, PCB Chief Executive, contract next year.

According to the details, Ehsan Mani, CB Chairman, is happy with Khan’s two year’s work and for his dedication, PCB is thinking to extend his contract.

It is pertinent to mention here that Khan’s current contract will expire in February 2022. He was assigned to bring international teams to Pakistan and conduct the whole Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the country.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the first ODI against Zimbabwe.
As per the details, Usman Qadir has been included in the squad due to Shadab Khan’s injury.

On the other hand, Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhr Zaman, Khushdal Shah Fahim Ashraf, Wahab Riaz, and Haris Rauf have been included in the squad.

Saleem Malik Match Fixing Case: Justice Chauhan dismisses appeal

Today (on Monday), Mr. Justice (retd) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, former Lahore High Court announced his judgment and dismissed Saleem Malik‘s appeal of getting a Clearance Certificate in his favor.

In the 11-page judgment, Justice Chauhan wrote,

“Appellant (Saleem Malik) is seeking a Clearance Certificate from PCB to the effect that he is not involved in any kind of match-fixing or betting. This prayer for the issuance of NOC from PCB (the employer) is unnatural.”

“Appellant has applied for a job or post or permission to run a Cricket Academy under PCB and at the same time is seeking NOC from PCB. This prayer cannot be granted.”

“The appellant had to show his good character independent of PCB. He cannot ask PCB to issue NOC for providing him a job or grant him permission.”

“The appeal in hand is disposed of holding that PCB shall not use the transcripts dated 25-5-2000 against the appellant (Saleem Malik) without verifying the same against original tapes. PCB is further directed to decide the application of the appellant (Saleem Malik) for the post of batting coach, either way.”

Mr. Taffazul Rizvi, PCB Counsel said,

“The appeal filed by Mr. Saleem Malik has been disposed of by the learned independent adjudicator, Mr. Justice (Retd) Fazal-e-Miran Chohan. The learned independent adjudicator has inter alia held that the prayer of Mr. Salim Malik for the grant of NOC cannot be granted as he has to show his good character.”

“It is also been held by the adjudicator that Mr. Salim Malik cannot ask the PCB to issue NOC to provide him the job or grant him permission.”

According to new reports, Babar Azam has become the most favorite to lead Pakistan in the Test format too. The white-ball captain Babar Azam was proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to replace Azhar Ali before the New Zealand tour.

As per sources, PCB does not want Azhar Ali to continue his part as the Test captain. On the other hand, Muhammad Rizwan will likely to be appointed as the Test team’s vice-captain.

After reviewing all the possibilities, the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani will take a decision regarding the Test captaincy.
