Pakistan Vs England 1st ODI: England wins by 9 Wickets

England tour to Pakistan in worries due to players security concerns

Pakistan Vs England: England registered a clinical win by thumping Pakistan in the first game of the series. Everything went well for them right from the beginning.

Saqib Mahmood set the tone by striking twice in the first over of the match and from thereon, it was all England.

Pakistan failed to recover from those blows and was always playing catch-up. Fakhar Zaman did give them some hope with his fine strokes but he didn’t last long and the touring team managed only a paltry total of 141 on the board.

Pakistan needed a miracle from their bowlers but that didn’t happen. They bowled too many extra upfront and managed to pick the solitary wicket of Phillip Salt.

Playing the role of an opener, Dawid Malan showed good hands and along with debutant Zak Crawley, he formed a century stand. Their partnership didn’t allow any sniff to Pakistan as England cruised to a commanding win.

Pakistan Vs England 1st ODI: 100 up for Three Lions

Pakistan Vs England

Pakistan Vs England: England opening batsman Dawid Malan and Philip Salt started England’s chase after finishing Pakistan’s innings on 141.

Score: 100/1 (16.0)

While the measly 142-run target may not provide a challenge to England, it appears that Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has intended to give the hosts a hard time, as he has taken the team’s first wicket.

Phil Salt, who was caught in the slips and contributed seven runs to the chase, was dismissed by Afridi.

Pakistan was hoping for a miracle but that didn’t happen and they are just going through the motions, probably waiting for the game to end.

Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan sets target of 142 runs only

Pakistan Vs England

Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan’s ODI campaign against England started on a worrisome note, with the team struggling to post a decent score after losing four early wickets and a slew of poor efforts in between.

It was a great bowling show by Saqib Mahmood and it was good to read his thoughts. England will be thrilled by the way they bowled with their inexperienced unit. Mahmood set the tone very nicely by striking twice in his opening over.

Imam, Babar, and Rizwan were sent packing very early and the cream of the Pakistan batting was removed in a flash.

Fakhar Zaman though chose to bat with a lot of authority and played some extravagant shots. His partnership with Sohaib Maqsood tried to revive the innings but the unfortunate run out of the latter once again put the visitors off the track.

The biggest blow came to them in the form of Fakhar’s wicket and after that, it went downhill. Shadab Khan’s 30 helped them to get close to the 150-run mark but overall, it was a dismal show with the willow for the Men in Green.

It’s a below-par total that Pakistan has managed on the board. They do have a quality bowling attack at their disposal but there are not enough runs on the board.

Pakistan Vs England 1st ODI: 8 Down as Pakistan struggle in Cardiff

Pakistan Vs England

Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan’s ODI campaign against England has started on a shaky note, with the team struggling to put up a decent score after losing four early wickets and some unimpressive performances.

Score: 124/8 (After 30 Overs)

After a review conducted by Stokes proved the ball had pitched in line, Mahmood had Imam-ul-Haq lbw with the opening ball of the match.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, the world’s top-ranked ODI batsman, was dismissed for a duck two balls later when he edged to Zak Crawley at second slip, leaving the tourists 0-2.

When Mohammad Rizwan edged a magnificent late-moving delivery from Lewis Gregory to debutant wicketkeeper John Simpson, he made 13 runs.

With 3-21 in four overs, Mahmood had Pakistan debutant Saud Shakeel lbw for five with a ball that angled in.

Saud Shakeel was also dismissed for five runs by Saqib Mahmood.

After a meager total of 19 runs, Shoaib Maqsood was the next to fall for a run out.

Fakhar Zaman was putting in a respectable performance, salvaging the guests’ faint hopes, but that, too, came to an end when the batsman was bowled for 47 runs by Matt Parkinson.

Earlier in the opening ODI match of the three-day series in Cardiff, the hosts won the toss and chose to bowl against Pakistan.

In the opening ODI match of the three-day series in Cardiff, the hosts won the toss and chose to bowl against Pakistan.

Yuvraj Singh opened up about his desire to become Team India captain

Yuvraj Singh

“I was expecting to captain India but then MS Dhoni’s name was announced,” says Yuvraj Singh.

The all-rounder opened up about his earlier desire to captain India. Speaking during a podcast, Yuvraj Singh also revealed why many senior cricketers didn’t play in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Due to his multiple match-winning performances for the country, Yuvraj Singh is considered to be one of the greatest cricketers from India. The left-hander was a fan favorite and many fans expected him to become the national team captain.

But the explosive left-hander was overlooked by the cricket board for the role of captaincy, and it was given to MS Dhoni.

Yuvraj stated in the 22 Yarns podcast that he expected to captain his national team in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup before Dhoni was named captain.

“So probably the seniors thought that they need a break and obviously nobody took the T20 World Cup seriously. I was expecting to captain India in the T20 World Cup and then it was announced MS Dhoni will be the captain,” he said.

When asked if his relationship with Dhoni survived the issue, Yuvraj stated, “Obviously. Whoever becomes captain you got to support the guy whether it was Rahul, whether it was Sourav Ganguly, whoever in the future. End of the day you want to be a team man and that’s how I was.”

Yuvraj played a crucial role in winning the 2007 T20 World Cup, helping his national team win the inaugural tournament.

Irfan Pathan: You cannot go from being Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shoaib Akhtar

Irfan Pathan: You cannot go from being Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shoaib Akhtar

Irfan Pathan stated that the bowler shouldn’t run after pace as swing has its advantages.

Irfan Pathan, former Indian all-rounder performed a detailed analysis of the pace and swing bowling. He told the difference between pace and swing bowlers along with explaining in detail why swing bowling is better than pace bowling.

Irfan stated that all-rounder didn’t seem happy with the trend of seamers trying to change their bowling style, he advised all the bowlers to back their natural ability as if a swing bowler will force himself to generate pace, he will end up losing both and will be left hanging in the middle.

He further added that no bowler can become a fast pacer like ‘Shoaib Akhtar’ from a swing master like ‘Bhuvneshwar Kumar’.

He wrote, “The desperation to belong to the fast bowler category will leave you with nothing; you cannot go from being Bhuvneshwar to Shoaib Akhtar, it’s impossible. You will lose your swing, and yet not be quick enough to hustle the batsman.”

He also advised the swing bowlers to pose more fears to the opposition batters and stated that instead of adding pace to their bowling, the swing bowlers should try different variations like slower-ball and cutters, according to him adding variations to the bowling can help any bowler survive anywhere in the world.

Irfan Pathan told that Bhuvneshwar is not an express bowler but when he swings the ball, he is on a song

He said, “A swing bowler generally operates in the 130-135 kph region, that’s scientifically proven to be the best range of force to get a maximum swing. But if the same bowler can bowl a yorker or a slower one or a cutter at that speed, he can survive anywhere in the world,”

Irfan believes that Bhuvneshwar is outclassed in his bowling because he has variations in his bowling like the knuckleball, the slower ones, and yorkers at his disposal, he concluded that what is important for the swing bowlers is that there should be some movement from the ball.

He concluded, “Take Bhuvneshwar Kumar, for example. He is not an express bowler but when he swings the ball, he is on a song. But the skipper always puts him on at the death because of his ability to bowl the knuckle, the slower ones, and the yorker. there should be some movement from the ball, that is important,”
