Balochistan schools declare 76-day winter holiday period

The government of Balochistan has declared winter holidays for educational institutions in the coldest regions of the province.

As per the official announcement, schools, colleges, and universities in 18 districts, including Quetta, will remain closed for an extended period of 76 days, from December 16 to February 29.

This decision, conveyed through the Education Department’s exclusive notification, aims to grant students and educators in these areas a well-deserved break, fostering rejuvenation for students and allowing educators ample time to prepare for upcoming academic challenges.

The comprehensive initiative, communicated through the secretaries of secondary and higher education, underscores the government’s dedication to prioritizing student well-being and cultivating an optimal learning environment.

Meanwhile, the northern parts of Balochistan are grappling with severe cold, experiencing nighttime temperatures below freezing.

In response to the harsh weather conditions, schools and educational institutions are set to be closed for winter vacations, aligning with the safety concerns for students and staff in these challenging environments.

The provincial administration’s decision reflects a proactive approach to addressing the hardships faced by residents in these least developed regions, where freezing temperatures persist.
