  • Imam-ul-Haq struggled against Jordan Buckingham.

There were a number of exciting moments on the first day of the four-day match between Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra on Wednesday that had spectators and pundits on the edge of their seats.

The action-packed day began with Imam-ul-Haq, the opening batsman, finding himself in a difficult predicament at the crease. Imam scored just 9 runs from 24 deliveries in an over that Jordan Buckingham bowled, losing his wicket in addition to failing to score any runs.

Among the day’s highlights were also the outstanding shots of Babar Azam. Against Todd Murphy, Babar scored his first boundary of the Australia trip with a lovely square drive. Babar demonstrated his batting prowess by hitting Beau Webster with an easy straight drive when he reached 33.

Another memorable play was when Shan Masood misplayed a Webster delivery and struck the ball on the ground. Babar Azam, the non-striker, mockingly pretended to try to catch the ball with his hands as it went by, despite the fact that it was just a little bit out of reach.

“Babar Azam keeping himself in the game at the non-striker’s end…,” was the amusing observation made by Cricket Australia in response to the incident involving the former captain of Pakistan. The company also provided a video of the hilarious incident.
